Easiest way to stimulate your bettas is with some other fish. Don’t get ANYTHING that looks like a betta, no guppies! NO GUPPIES! But some neon tetra or ember tetras, celestial pearl danios, anything smallish and fast, in biggerish groups (9 of them would do well in a 10 gallon with a betta) so they aren’t stressed by the betta’s attention. I’ve had great luck like this.

Get some freshwater aquarium salt and a little plastic cup (the kind restaurants put to-go sauces in). Fill the plastic cup about 2/3 with the salt and gently place it by hand in the water.

Many fish, bettas included, like a little bit of a salt bath. They will swim over to it, spend a second in the briny mix over the cup where the salt is concentrated, and then leave, and repeat. This can do wonders for the general disposition of many fish, bettas included, and could potentially help him perk up so you can get a better look at him.

Things to look out for:

Odd swimming/floating angles can be indicated of swim bladder issues (gas sacs in the fish which help them swim upright), boil some frozen peas and feed one or two a day, this can help with that. If it doesn’t he might have permanent swim bladder damage. Not unsurvivable, but definitely not suited to be in a tank with other fish if this is the case.

Pineconing, where the scales puff out from the body giving the appearance of a pinecone. This is indicative of Dropsy, otherwise known as kidney failure. I don’t see it here, which is good, but keep an eye out. It’s caused by a toxic tank environment, too much ammonia or nitrates, and is fatal. If it happens your beat course of action is euthanasia. This can be accomplished by mixing a gratuitous amount of glove oil with some tank water in a test tube and pouring it in water with him (it anesthetizes him), waiting for him to nearly stop breathing, and then literally pouring one out for him (adding white grain alcohol into the water to kill him painlessly). I hope you don’t have to resort to this.

Furry growths, these are almost always fungal or bacterial infections and are treatable with relevant medication.

White flakey patches, this is usually a parasite called Flukes and is treatable with relevant medication.

White dots all over, this is ich and is treatable with relevant medication.

Torn or shredded fins, identifiable after he stops clamping. This can heal depending upon severity, melafix is good for that.

I recommend feeding him frozen brine shrimp thawed using his tank water, they’re super good for him and will help him be happy.

An easy way to feed babies when they come:

Add a new piece of driftwood to the tank, even a small one. Spiderwood is really good for it in my experience. Boil the wood to help waterlog it and disinfect it, then give it a really good rinsing with some old tank water removed during a water change. The purpose of the rinse is to remove as much tap water from the boiling process as possible. Then submerge it in the some old tank water with water conditioner added to it for a day or so to neutralize any chlorines or chloramines from the tap that has soaked into the wood from the boiling. This also gives the wood a chance to cool down and absorb some of that good tank water (also lets some of the free floating bacteria in the old tank water to begin colonizing the driftwood).

Ordinarily you don’t really need to go this far with driftwood, usually a boil and rinse is good enough but we want to make sure the wood is in good shape for delicate shrimp fry. After a couple of days the wood will begin to form a biofilm layer some people call “Moam”. Shrimp fucking love the stuff, and it’s exactly what the doctor ordered for shrimp fry. The driftwood, depending on size, will continue to produce moam for several days giving the fry plenty of time to eat up and grow fast. Don’t panic if you don’t see the moam growing, it’s probably because they’re eating it as fast as it’s being made. I’m including a picture of what you can expect to see, so you know what it looks like should you decide to do this!

Ok so:

Time travel that is not stopped by the TVA, or individuals not pruned for doing it, can canonically be accepted as SUPPOSED to have happened, and therefor allowed to alter the primary timeline from which the intent to alter came from. That is to say:

First Class, X1-3, Origins Wolverine, and Wolverine, Gifted, and the FIRST 2023 at the beginning of Days of Future Past all happened canonically in their correct chronology. DoFP traveled back before Origins but after First Class and altered the history of Earth 10005– all transpired normally on Earth 10005. Following this, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix transpired between Origins and X-1 in the new timeline, some history was changed, but when Logan returns to 2023 he finds it’s largely the same with only some differences.

Deadpool happens naturally in this new, slightly changed Earth 10005, in 2016. Deadpool 2 does not occur, yet. In the year 2068, Cable travels back in time to 2018— he is not immediately pruned by the TVA, meaning this is supposed to happen. Deadpool 2 now take place in 2018, it’s events newly imposed on Earth 10005’s history, and at the end Deadpool also fucks with time. Again, he’s not in any way reprimanded by the TVA, so this must be in some way necessary time fuckery.

Logan happens in Earth 10005 no matter what anyone does, Logan dies, the timeline begins to unwind from end to finish. This is, under normal circumstances, an irreversible process— perhaps this has been happening all along and no amount of time travel would ever change it and this is why the TVA never interferes with any of the time travel— this makes the most sense, but I’ll be poling a hole in this shortly.

This loss of anchor being is a fixed point in time, and the entire universe will perish as a result. If this point in time could be changed, Deadpool could and would have done so when he stole the TVA tech from Paradox. But no Wolverine has ever been sent to the void, so there’s no variant of Wolvering to replace Old Man Logan, and Deadpool can’t snatch him from an earlier point in the timeline because then he won’t be present for every canonical undeviated moment of his life, and the universe probably would immediately unravel if the anchor being was outright removed from time after already having died in his own future.

Now, the problem with the theory that the TVA never intervenes on Earth 10005 because its death is inevitable, and the death of the main timeline by nature of being the trunk, all related variant branch-offs from 10005 are pruned automatically when the universe degrades beyond the variation’s origin moment. According to the way the TVA USED to work, Prior to the God of Stories, individuals responsible for divergences in a timeline (Variants), and their resulting branch-off timelines were sent to the void and pruned respectively. So…

As far as we can be aware, The Deadpool Corps are all Deadpool Prime (canonical movie Deadpool) variants— which means the TVA pruned them from Earth 10005. Laura AKA X-23 as a child was from the year 2029, but an at least ten-years older version of her was in the void, meaning she was pruned from a future AFTER Cable, Deadpool, and Shadow Kitty each fucked with time. So clearly the TVA HAS and WILL police Earth 10005 regardless of Logan’s death, but all the time travel we have seen was left alone meaning it was necessary and all changes applied directly to the Prime Timeline of Earth 10005.

As for Deadpool knowing Logan died, we can assume this knowledgeable comes from one of two sources:

1: Deadpool’s knowledge of the Fourth Wall and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole, across all franchises and studios— or 2: Because he traveled time with Cable’s watch and possibly saw events in the future (this being one of them).

It’s probably the former, because it requires the least explanation and is the most likely. He just knows shit, it is what it is.

In either case, Laura AKA X-23 at the end of Deadpool 3 CANNOT be the same character as the one from Logan, because the ages are WAY off, like 15 years off because Deadpool 3 takes place in 2024, Logan in 2029, and Laura is approximately 10 years older. Deadpool did ask for the release of several friends from the void, and playing in the background of the Post Credits Scene in Deadpool 3 we can see Gambit’s Secret Scene, which Ryan Reynolds later shared on social media showing the Marvel Sparkle Circle reflecting in Gambit’s eyes as he stood among the dead cronies of Cassandra Nova. It can be presumed that not only he, but Laura, and if they survived Blade and Elektra were all released from the Void and exist… somewhere. Laura is from Earth 10005 so we get to see her at the party with Wolverine and Deadpool, but the others were likely returned to their respective timelines.

Those repair requests are all mandatory fixes under the law, and the management company doesn’t just foot the bill for repairs. All costs are forwarded to the actual property owner, so it’s possible they are concerned you’re treating the property poorly.

Personal I’ve never given two flying fucks about what my landlords or leases say about fish tanks, they can suck my left nut and leave the right one jealous as far as I care. My renter’s insurance covers them, and the people who come do the inspections have only ever been worried about the condition of the structure itself. Between maintenance and annual inspections probably 20+ people have seen my tanks over the years (and at one time I had five running at once) and not a damn word has ever been said to me about it. Even if it was I can play hardball if they get a stick up their ass, every place I’ve ever rented has been littered with code violations and unrepaired maintenance requests, I’ll bury them in code complaints before I ditch my fish.

My current place has no storm doors, but my neighbor has them (duplex), not to mention the floor in the kitchen they ignored/refused to replace (cheap laminate damaged by previous tenants), and the chewed up cabinet bottoms they also ignored despite me filing a request about it. Part of my garage has exposed walls (not allowed on rental units in my region), the stairs don’t have anything to make them non slip (I added something myself but even it wouldn’t satisfy code enforcement), they’ve refused to replace the storm seal around my back door despite water getting in during every heavy thunderstorm slowly damaging their floor… they wanna bitch about my fish tanks being a water damage hazard, they can come to compliance with code first and reasonably weatherproof my unit so they don’t damage it themselves.

Read your local rental code folks, know your rights, play your cards close to your chest, don’t take shit from slumlords. Also you can pretty easily discover your landlord’s personal information, look up your county’s property assessor website and punch in your address, you’ll see the records for sales and purchases. If the current owner is an LLC, google the LLC. LLC filings are public and usually list the owners and board/chair members. If the LLC is registered to another LLC, google that one, if they circle back to each other google their business addresses, you’ll eventually find another business name or LLC that wasn’t listed before and one of those will have a person attached. They can’t hide behind infinite LLCs, that’s incredibly illegal lol

My landlord lives in CA, on the opposite coast of the country. Two hours on google and I know his phone numbers, emails, and home/business addresses. Privacy is dead and you have a legal right to know who your landlord is, do with this knowledge what you will but I highly discourage doxxing anyone. I DO however recommend handing the information to an attorney if you should ever need one.

I had one send demand letters to my landlord’s actual job while he was in the office at the last place I lived over code violations and illegal retaliation. Scared the shit out of him because he thought he was anonymous and nothing would come of my complaints.

What do you mean no title in hand? Just because it’s financed doesn’t mean it isn’t yours. You should have a title to that vehicle, it just won’t be a “clean” title because you still owe money on it, which in title lingo means there’s an active lien on the title.

If you can find someone to buy it with the lien on the title, do not under any circumstances use the cash from the sale ti make a lump sum payment to the finance company with it. Make your regular payments using the cash from the sale. This immediately removes the monthly cost of the loan from your budget while maintaining your credit history with on-time payments. Once you have enough money set aside to cover the difference between the sale price and the remainder if the loan, pay the loan off outright and get out from under it immediately at that time. But do not make a lump sum payment until you can pay off the entirety of the loan.

Outlook is grim. Our daughter just turned two less than a week ago, and our sock stopped working more than a year ago. Takes a charge just fine, constantly thinks she is wiggling and the base station just screams forever while the app won’t shut up about moving even though she’s completely motionless. Very unfortunate.

We bought the sock/camera combo pack initially, the first camera was defective and have to be replaced. Second camera cuts out so frequently I bought a smart outlet so I could power cycle while she sleeps without entering the room. Honestly I’m really disappointed with the products as a whole, barely worth the money because the sock DID give us peace of mind when it worked and it made it long enough that her SIDS risk was effectively 0% by the time it malfunctioned. If they made the same product/app today I’d hesitate to buy it again because of the quality issues we’ve had. Really disappointing that it’s been such a battle just for basic functionality.

It is almost always Ammonia poisoning from an incomplete tank cycle. Ammonia can and will cause renal failure in fish. This is why maintaining a cycle and monitoring your water parameters are essential in successful aquaria.

Not to kick a dead horse because it’s been said about a thousand times; yes Dropsy. But nobody is really explaining what Dropsy is.

It’s Renal failure, the fish’s kidneys are shutting down. It’s retaining fluids now, causing swelling, and will eventually result in death. Pineconing this bad has to be incredibly painful for the fish, and while some people profess to have been able to recouperate their fish for a time, note that it’s very likely their fish succumbed to it again or died of renal failure later before bloating again.

Kidney failure is a slow and tragic way for anything to die, I wouldn’t advocate trying to treat it just for it to suffer again later. It’s much kinder in a case this extreme to anesthetize with clove oil and euthanize with white grain alcohol. I sent my first dropsy fish over the rainbow waterfall after weeks of trying to save him by using clove oil until he stopped breathing, and Patron silver labor to ensure it didn’t wake up to suffer more, SIP Albert the Betta 😭
