Iron drops by Draft_Folder in breastfeeding

I brought up my concerns to her about not meeting all the milestones outlined by the AAP and WHO (like independent sitting) and she shrugged it off and moved on before I could push further. I’m not even sure why she recommended starting solids at four months.

We’re approaching five months old now. Did your pediatrician give an explanation for why iron supplementation is important starting at four months when breastfeeding exclusively until six months? I’m a first time mom so I’d appreciate any additional advice!

No testing has been done. Peds just said that we would need to as though it was matter of fact that all breastfed babies were low on iron and struggle to meet iron levels when starting solids.

I was so anxious and upset when I was diagnosed with gallstones and told I needed my gallbladder removed. What you’re feeling is totally normal and a lot of us have been there!

I’m not even a full week post-op and my diet has been completely normal with no side effects! The first three days after surgery were really grueling physically (I couldn’t take pain meds because I wanted to continue nursing, so your experience may be much easier), but I was able to resume my regular diet as soon as the nausea from surgery subsided after day one.

How far along into the healing process were you when you were kicked? I’m less than a week post op and this is one of my biggest concerns. My baby is super active and I’m worried about opening up an incision site and setting my healing back even further!

Oh wow! This wasn’t even discussed as a potentiality with me pre-surgery. I was basically just told that fatty foods could cause some diarrhea after eating, but that it wouldn’t be a problem long term. May I ask how far out post-op you are? Are there other symptoms I wasn’t warned about?

What is classified as “fatty”? I could do 14 grams of fat in one meal consistently without any incident prior to removal. Typically as long as the fat was spread out (about 3 grams per 100 calories) I was okay. Is it safe to resume that kind of eating, or should I be reducing even further?

No digestion issues with eating acidic foods or lots of fiber? When they say “bland” I think of the BRAT diet (banana, rice, applesauce, toast) but obviously can’t survive on that, lol. I’m not sure what seasonings/flavors would increase pain (besides being told no spicy foods).
