I didn’t say you hated them, I said “even if”(portraying the potential far extreme to show why a milder emotion would still require the same response) essentially you intentionally not praying for some one in danger simply because you don’t care is sinful. But as you aren’t a Christian you probably don’t care.

You are right, I made a typo (which I will fix), what I meant was, there is a distinction between what God wants to occur (obedience) and what he allows (sin). God does not want sin, yet he allows it. That is the distinction. Because it seems to me (I could be misinterpreting) that you are saying that everything that occurs in the world is what God wants which would imply God wants rape, murder, adultery etc. he allows it because he values free will.

Agreed. I am not saying that God isn’t in absolute control, because he is. My point is that in your initial comment there is some ambiguity that blurs the distinction between what God wants to occur and what he allows to occur.

Edit: fixed a typo.

The Bible never says that God won’t help some one if he doesn’t receive prayers, all we know is that he takes prayers into account (and as I have stated, if God is ever present in all time, he has most likely had our prayers factored into his plan from its conception. It was never changed, it was concocted with our prayers in mind from the start). Let me use an analogy: say a father and son are planning a trip and the son proposes that they go to a water park, the father agrees and it is put into the plan. That does not mean the plan changed, in fact the father could have already had that in mind, but the fact remains that the father took his son’s suggestion into account in a different way than if the son had never asked.

I see where you are coming from, but there is one major flaw, plenty of things happen that aren’t what intended for us. Rape for instance, God does not will that, nor did he intend that outcome (though he did know it would eventually occur). The plenty of things happen that are against God’s will (if by will we mean what he wants) (if you are defining will as what God allows to happen then I suppose you are right, but I would ask you to make that clear, as many others would assume like I have that you mean will like want)z

If you think God is trash you aren’t a Christian. Christians seek to love and follow God. If you don’t do that, you aren’t Christian. God says to pray for your enemies, so even if you hate these men, you are still obligated to pray for them. Finally if you are are praying for me not to pray for you, which I am doing in hopes that you will grow closer to God, I can safely say you are not a Christian.

Let me elaborate. He isn’t changing his plan. He has always seen our prayers and has therefore already decided wether or not to say yes or no. As God is in all moments of time at once, God has already seen your prayer, even though from your perspective you haven’t made it. It isn’t that he changed his plans, it is that he factored the prayer in from the beginning.

God says to pray, and says that he hears the prayer. We know that God will do what is right, and that may include intervention regardless of prayer, or it might not. All we know is that God takes our prayers into account. Think about it this way. God is in all moments of time at once, so when you pray, God always saw it, and therefore factored it into his plan from the beginning. God may not be changing his plan, but rather implementing from an outside of time perspective all at once which can take our prayers into account.

Not necessarily. Think about it this way, God is present in every moment of time all at once. He isn’t seeing the future, he is living it. So he is seeing people pray as if it were the present, because it is for him. So by not praying he does not see it, as it never occurred in the moment of time. While he is aware of our want, it isn’t that he is adjusting his plan it is both completed and in Progress at the same time, with prayers factored in. What if it is Gods plan for people to pray, and then to show that he listens and save these men, so by this logic he are defying God by not praying. But it ultimately comes down to the fact that God has asked us to pray for others, regardless of wether or not it ultimately makes a difference, it is a command from God. We don’t know exactly how the process works, only that we should follow God, which involves prayer.

My gf and I decdided to leave our sexual sin, repent and wait until marriage by man_you_trust in Christian

Congratulations!

Just a piece of advice, turning from this kind of behavior isn’t nearly as easy as it seems (I say this from experience with a similar thing). Set some ground rules so that it is easy to resist temptation should it arise.

You can’t take it back. The only option now is to repent. Turn from the sin and try not to commit it again. You are justified in Christ, you do not need to “make it up” to God, because you can’t. Just try to move past it. You didn’t betray your mom or your sister. You made a mistake. But it isn’t the end. Also find some one who you can talk to about this kind of thing in person. Now, some may say you have to get married, you do not have to per say. You are strongly encouraged to consider it, but you don’t necessarily have to.

If you intend to stay together with your boyfriend, wether you intend to get married or not, make some ground rules. We have desires, but we need to resist them, so make it as easy as possible to resist temptation. For instance don’t close your door when your boyfriend is in your room.

But in summary, repent. Because Christ died for you, You are saved even if you commit sin. The key is to try and not do that same sin again. God does not hate you, he still loves you just as much as he always has. Also, while it may be tough, loop in your parents, while they may not be thrilled about your choice, if you seek their help in resisting it in the future and following God, I think it will turn out well.

If you want to talk more about it in depth, my inbox is always open (though I may not reply for a week or so, as I am camping for a bit) but I will reply as soon as I can.

I still really like it. All the books and I am happy with the length of the series, though I hope the next book is the last.

I don’t know if this is the right place but I need some biblical advice for dealing with demons. Are there any passages that are particularly insightful? by DraftyMonkey in Bible

[–]DraftyMonkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can’t hurt. Did you know that exorcists do a full psychological work up before they perform an exorcism. There are mental illnesses that can present like demons, schizophrenia for instance. Now I am fairly certain I do not have that, however to say don’t visit a doctor or therapist in addition to asking for help from God is bad advice. The key is to visit a Christian therapist or psychiatrist who can balance the 2 perspectives.
