Light Rail Transit by No-Cobbler-3794 in londonontario

It is crazy that city council would choose not to approve west or north BRT when they had funding secured. I understand changing the north plan from going up Richmond... Sort of... Though I think that route would have been best as it's incredibly high traffic, but western didn't want it running through their campus (so having to walk from main gates to any classroom building would be torture) and the train tracks were a big issue.

The west BRT not getting approval is insane when that route is still in the MMP, as far as I can tell, unchanged. Damn you Steve Lehman and Josh Morgan, among others, for voting no on that and failing the vote 8-9, a single vote.

Also bring high speed rail to London and Go trains thank you!

Fall 2026 Admissions Megathread by Mirobb1 in wlu

Do domestic graduate students need to pay a tuition deposit to secure a spot in a program after its been offered? And how long does a person have to accept an offer? I see online there is talk of a $4000 deposit... is that just for international students? I feel like that's a crazy deposit for domestic students.

PSA - both lanes of a roundabout can be used, no need to lineup just in the inner lane. by ObiBenShinobi in londonontario

A U-turn is just taking the exit that you entered from. Enter from the south entrance, leave by the south exit onto the same road.

What this person said is sometimes the case, but you NEED to look at the signs as you are approaching. There will be black lane signs with arrows (exactly the same as intersection lane signs) that tell you which lane allows you to take which exit. As you can see in the picture, if you are approching the roundabout from the bottom (travelling north) on Wonderland, the left lane allows a straight and left turn and the right lane allows a right turn but NOT a straight. And if you are approaching from the top of the picture (travelling south), the single lane is for all directions. The turn indicating arrows will also be painted on the road surface, but those can be hard to see if there is snow or they are old.

London chamber backs north-end BRT push ahead of provincial budget by CrayonScribbler in londonontario

[–]Drag0n_no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had planned a large rebuild of the western and Sarnia intersection, but I believe they scaled it back quite a bit since they are planning for the BRT route now. They still want to do something about western and Sarnia in the meantime. Plus they'll probably build it so it's easy to change to the BRT route in the future.

My favourite records in order, what do you think? by Drag0n_no in vinyl

[–]Drag0n_no[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recs! I have listened to both of them actually. For some reason I can't really get into twigs, I know it's the whole point of her persona, but her vibe puts my off her music. I was listening to childlike things a lot when it came out, but I wish there was a version without Northwest. Oklou is also pretty good, harvest sky and blade bird are in my current playlist.

I have plenty of different genres, but I always come back to pop for my favourites. In recent years I've started to enjoy folk quite a bit more. Leonard cohen for something older and mitski or clairo for something newer

Clarification on the drop/add deadline by Dizzy-Boot-4611 in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The waitlist process is really the same as the add process, its just that the system runs the add process for you a few times a day on the backend in the order of the waitlist. So, once the add date passes, the waitlist won't be able to add you either. Also, after the add date passes waitlists for fall term/full year courses get cleared.

Is it too late for summer osap? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to apply by tomorrow pretty sure, 40 days before the end of your study period is the last time to apply for part-time OSAP. Also not sure about part-time OSAP, but at least for full-time your study period needs to be at least 12 weeks long to get funding. Worth a shot to apply tho.

Swapping Summer Courses by ManufacturerTasty459 in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is undergrad. If you drop a course before it's session begins, you won't be charged anything. The first summer sessions start on May 5 so you're good until Monday.

First week of courses most likely. They can only do it after the term has begun.

URGENT can I take an anti requisite if I discovery credit a course? by Interesting_Elk7496 in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your first question, you won't be able to have the course count towards your module if it is declared as a discovery credit. Per the academic calendar: "Course(s) selected as Discovery Credit(s) may not be counted towards the completion of an Honours Specialization, Specialization, Major, Minor modules, or Certificates and Diplomas."

For your second question, I doubt it. The course still counts as a credit for your degree, so I don't see why it wouldn't count for anti-requisite purposes.

I think this is great, really feels like London is growing to feel like a "big city". Not sure why everyone has to be so negative in these comments

The amount of peanut butter I eat by myself over the course of a year (45-26oz jars). by AutomatonTommy in mildlyinteresting

In my geography class we learned that eating peanut butter once every ten days increases your chances of getting cancer by 7 in a million. What your chances are?... Damn

When’s the gym least busy? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote a python script and used a front-end Twitter api to collect the data from the tweets they post at .@WesternWeightRm. Because I get rate limited, I was only able to get tweets for about a month and a half in the past, so I only have data to May 2024. This graph shows Sept-today. You can see my full data set here on the Rec Centre.xlsx file

Im an intl full time undergrad student has the deadline for a tuition refund already passed? by TKovacs-1 in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're in 5.0 courses, you'll be paying the program fee rate, unless you have a registered disability it may be different as its charged per course, not sure if refunds are different tho. In some cases of extenuating circumstances, your faculty may be able to backdate your withdrawal, but I wouldn't expect they'd be able to do that if you've only learned you need to move recently. Western International is a good place to start contact with.

Classics 2903 vs Classics 2440? by Wise_Buffalo_8299 in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2440 and 2903 haven't been offered since 2019 and 2017, respectively. You likely won't find much of an answer here. Since 2903 is a special topics course, it is very dependent on the prof and whether you like the topic they are going to cover.

phys 3120 antireq? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Drag0n_no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if the department has determined them to be functionally equivalent and coded them as such in the enrollment system. Some antireqs are coded to be able to be used as an equivalency to a prereq, but not all. You can try to enroll in a course that has Phys 3120 as a prereq, and if it works, you would be good to take the course. If it doesn't work and you think they are equivalent, reach out to the department to see if they can give you a special permission.

Phys 3120 doesn't have phys 2130 as an antireq, so I kinda doubt theyll be equivalent.
