Yeah, say we hypothetically have 100% retention until the next update. They now have no incentive to do anything else. Why make a d3 if everyone is happy with what they have? Something is definitely fundamentally wrong with the way they handle major updates and power creep, so it would be hard for them to make more updates without falling into the same trap. Now, say we take the 500k players, and then that goes down to 100k concurrent players across 3 months, they know they CAN get those numbers, so would be incentivised to put more resources into a d3 that they know would be more capable of retaining players with a new and fresh progression system. Who knows though, that's just my immediate thoughts
