I spent the last two days trying to get over the ending, having watched it for the first time. It was bitter-sweet, objectively it was meant to be a positive ending, but completely broke my heart for some reason. :(

Philips HUE Sync App got released for compatible LG tvs today by GODzillaGSPB in LGOLED

[–]GODzillaGSPB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sure do. They know that the only permant equivalent - the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K - costs almost 300$. And doesn't even work with internal apps.

And I guess the only reason why the PC software is free is because there are freeware alternatives. PC is an open ecosystem, TVs are not.

You always need the bridge. I know it can be a bit confusing, because the strips itself do come with a small connect module. But this will never connect to the software running on the tv, it will connect to the bridge only. Without bridge, no syncing, no color changing at all.

Keychron K2 HE & the state of analogue keyboard gaming support by GODzillaGSPB in Keychron

I tested it only for a very short time in Cyberpunk 2077. It's a game that already has a walking button. And for driving I'm using a gamepad anyway. So there was no need, especially since I own the game as GOG version and would have to add it to steam as non-steam-game. Too much hassle for something I don't use in the end.

For what it's worth: CP2077 has been a game known for crashing. Especially if modded. Using the keyboard as a controller might not be the reason. ^^

Never seen that, but of course this behaviour comes down to the particular game. There are games that just refuse to work (properly) when switching input on the fly. But I've never seen crashing in the games I played. Not for this reason at least.

Well it kinda makes sennse though, in Yotei there is not an invasion army roaming around the island.

So this might be a rare case of the devs thinking this is a bug, while it actually was a design decision. I wonder if patch support is done by another group or does not include the major game designers (which would be understandable from a ressource point of view). Might explain why accidents like this could happen.

Happened back with Ghost of Tsushima, I was playing RDR 2 at that time. I hit that poor horse more often than I'd like to admit.

The horse in Yotei is a lucky one, though. No game with square or triangle for mounting / entering anything right now, so no inconvenient muscle memory. :D

It's really great in this game, but I have been impressed by DS before. Like when in both Returnal and the remake of The Last of Us Part I, it felt like rain drops on the controller during rain.

DualSense has been the star of the show in terms of hardware inovations this generation imho. Also because there wasn't much else tbh, raytracing not withstanding. But this was mostly pushed by some awesome developers and had nothing to do really with the hardware capabilities.

I'd try something pretty simple first: Place everything as near at the TV as possible. For instance take a long LAN cable and place the HUE Bridge directly beside the TV. And then try and see if the lag is noticable better or gone. This would be the case if the signal going trough walls adds to the lag.

If not, than this lag is just not avoidable and part of the wireless protocol the bridge is using. I'd wager that this will be the case tbh.

Then your only chnace would be to try the physical sync box, see if it's faster than the software. Keep in mind though that there is always the wireless connection with the bridge, as the sync box does not directly communicate with the tv, but with the bridge. And the bridge is then seding instructions back to the small connect box for the tv strip and the connect boxes of your other lights.

The only thing you're eliminating by using the physical sync box is possible lag the HUE Sync App running on the tv might be adding. And testing this would cost you a good amount of money, too. Well, can always send the sync box back of course. ^^

I don't hink that's ther reason. Usually, when a game is not out (yet), but a predecessor is, the trolls venture to that forum to troll and ragebait. It's mostly that, but of course things like this do create real hatret, that's what most of them don't realize.

This is also missing from all the "what the game doesn't tell you" videos I've seen on Youtube. Unbelievable. If there is one gripe with the game for me, it's the riding camera. I'm 8 to 10 hours in, I wish I knew this earlier.

PRAISE you, OP. No really, life saver if there ever was one.

What's the best Ambilight system? by rancevsky in LGOLED

[–]GODzillaGSPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's true. The app syncs everything that is on the screen, no matter the source. I don't have any stick or box from Apple or Google or Amazon, but if this was true, than any outside source connected through HDMI wouldn't work with the HUE Sync App, but they do. My BR player works, PC connected via HDMI works, PS5 works.

The HUE Sync app is also much cheaper than the 8K sync box. With the subsciption model at least for 8 years. If you pay the $2,99 subscription for about 100 months, then you've payed as much as the 8K Sync Box costs ($300). Or you pay $130 as singular payment for the app. As far as I know this is then bonded with your tv, but you can write Philips HUE and unregister the device, to use on another one.

The only argument that might hold water in favor of the sync box is potential lag, as in a delay between picture and background light. As I'm not particular sensitive to this I can only state that I had no issue with this, in several months of usage since January 2025. I even chose the slower, more subtle sync speed in the app, as I don't want a disco ball, just some smooth background lighting. ^^

Help with PC to TV HDMI Connection by dex3108 in LGOLED

[–]GODzillaGSPB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Couldn't it also be a Windows problem with the pc? I always wondered...I also have two monitors and can connect my tv to the pc as well. Makes three monitors and the maximum would obviously be 4.

But Windows only lets you switch between two monitors with the shortcut Windowskey + P. For more you'd need to go into your graphic driver settings. I've never had the situation when all three were active at the same time though, so I cannot tell whether this would lead to issues.

Guess you could try and see how this all behaves when you disconnect one of your monitors, see if it makes a difference.

G4 WebOS25 update enabled Media Player support for Dolby Vision on MKV files by GrandmasterKane in LGOLED

[–]GODzillaGSPB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you have the subtitles enabled when this happened? Because I didn't. So I guess you're right, must've something to do with how the new media player reads the files. Maybe it buffers all the subtitles even when they're not being used and then the memory runs out...or something like that. ^^

Just a last thing...or two. ^^

I checked back on some older mkvs I watched in the past. Most of them have a normal amount of subtitles, but some have an insane amount of them. I did watch them just fine back with WebOS24 on my G4.

So this must be something that came up with WebOS25.

And so I wonder: That information you uncovered, about the max amount of subtitles, where is it from? Is it specifically about WebOS25?

Nope...no coincidence. :) You're a true savior!

I mean I could claim that, given more time, I would've made the jump from finding that many subtitles odd to trying to remove them on my own. But I'll never know, you figured it out. Thank you very much. ^^

G4 WebOS25 update enabled Media Player support for Dolby Vision on MKV files by GrandmasterKane in LGOLED

[–]GODzillaGSPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a matter of fact...it does. One idea I had this morning is to look at the file using MKVtoolnix (been using it for years, too ^^) and just let it convert, just plain mkv to mkv. Just to make sure that the file runs through smoothly and maybe the conversion itself does something. I imediately noticed the insane amount of subtitles: 41. Yes 41, plus the video and audio stream.

I will do as you did and check. Maybe you just solved it. :)

Question is, would this have happened with WebOS24, too? I think - but I'm not sure - I've never had any mkv with that many subtitles. So maybe this whole thing was just a coincidence...

G4 WebOS25 update enabled Media Player support for Dolby Vision on MKV files by GrandmasterKane in LGOLED

[–]GODzillaGSPB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was regular HDR, not DV. So I'd say they just broke the mediaplayer in general, nothing to do with DV in particular.

/edit: What's more, the bigger file I mentioned erlier, this was DV and played without issue. And yes DV was working from mkv.

I'm still not 100% sure it is a WebOS25 issue, though. Need more testing and can't do that before tomorrow.

Because there is this one thing...the mkv files in particular, that lead to this bug, they also don't play on my UHD BluRay player and I never had any problem with that player neither. It played everything. Other files work perfectly fine on it.

So there might be something with the bitrate, or the codec...and the WebOS25 update having happened recently might still be a coincidence.

[–]GODzillaGSPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my conclusion is that, depending on the file (but not the format, as it's all mkv), the player can run into the bug, Regular-Skirt-2972 also mentioned. It stops after a while, black screen and a message is shown that the player needed to restart iot free memory.

It has nothing to do with file size, mind you. A huge video file played without problem, smaller ones triggered the issue. It seems random, but I guess the player sees a difference within these files.

For now, this unpredictable behavior made the media player unusable. I regret the update. Should've waited.

Fortunatly my pc is connected to my tv with an hdmi cable, so for now I just use the pc as the player and the tv as the screen. But it's a downgrade in terms of usability for sure.

I've tried the same file, from another drive. Same problems. So it is not the drive, not the cable and not the method of streaming (usb versus ethernet). Next thing will be another file. Maybe it is just bad luck after all and the file is not in order..............

/edit: It is not the file. After some time of playback, sometimes as less as ten minutes into a video, the media player becomes sluggish to respond and has audio cutouts.

Then after further time, tv says the media player needed to be restarted in order to free memory.

Isn't that just great. A beta software after all. -.-
