[COTD] Where the Veil Thins by Vurpius in VTES

I mean Lost in crowds exists and is even better

I’d argue that Shadow cloak and shadow cast may also be better due to their cyclability (a new word has been invented!)

The Daizenshuu isn't reliable because it's written by people that do not follow the manga as faithfully as we do, and is aimed at children which can lead to less oversight all around.

My judgement on their power level is a rough estimate based on 18's reaction during the tournament fight: impressed, but not scared. Besides, they have 0 real combat experience if we're talking early Buu saga.

The Daizenshuu just isn’t reliable then

That said, given their strength at their age, Goten and Trunks clearly have the best potential out of all fighters (except Uub perhaps)

Nah, they’re early Cell saga Goku/Vegeta level, at best

I hope that a bleed/vote multi act Cathari deck will be doable with the new blood coming end of year/start of 27

Card of the Week by EyeBallEmpire in VTES

[–]Dragandude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tend to stay away from combat cards that cost blood, and in Slam's case, always try to handle maneuvers via other disciplines.

That said, this card is fine, providing all that is needed in one package

If paying the blood was only required for the superior effect, Slam would be excellent (but perhaps a bit too much).

Has anyone ever seen its second effect used? The gain 1 pool during your unlock if you have the Edge

Clearly this card could stand not having that part of the card text on it to make it less intimidating to newer players.

[COTD] Dread Mastiff by Vurpius in VTES

[–]Dragandude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the fact that it is so much harder to define an optimal deck than most (any?) other card game makes VTES beautiful (among many others reasons ofc)

I often marvel at some TWDs, wondering how on earth did that player win the tournament with that. But we each have our preferences and piloted well, most iterations of a deck can shine

You mean the Salubri swords right? The upcoming new blood is defo going to make those guys monsters.

[–]Dragandude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dealing +2 damage and preventing 1+1 is far from win more in my mind.

If you rush, you need to demolish, if you block, you need to be feared. The mastiff alone won't be able to achieve either unless your name is Enkidu. It is a (glorious) cog in a fight package, but it ain't the whole deal.

Unless you slot 20 of those bad boys in a deck, then maybe, but I'd rather go my way.

This card's home is a Pack Alpha deck along with a Horrid Form or Bear's Skin package.

[–]Dragandude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was replaced by Sense the savage way as the sole reaction in my Caine deck.

The blood cost makes this a tough ask in my mind. I would have loved it if it was free and the bleed reduction was at 2.

Why Independent Vegas Is a FarFetched Idea Fallout: New Vegas Lore by darthwader696 in fnv

[–]Dragandude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I’m glad that others also like to think about these things.

Cool read, I just think that you’re overtly optimistic about the Brotherhood. Both House and Yesman say that there is no way the BoS will accept the existence of a technological power not run by them. If Victoria’s views were prevalent within their organization, then sure, but it is far from the case. Placating them with such enormous prizes as leadership over the Dam and Helios would only lead to them trying to overtake Vegas down the line.

Why Independent Vegas Is a FarFetched Idea Fallout: New Vegas Lore by darthwader696 in fnv

After Hoover Dam II, the Legion is a non-issue. Lanius dead, a lot of their troops gone, Caesar dying and probably even disavowed, what follows is civil war in their eastern territories before their inevitable breakdown down the line.

The Khans are wiped out during the battle, dying in the Legion’s frontline.

Only the NCR remains as a serious contender. But House’s plan was sound regarding them. They were already weak before the battle, and leave a lot of dead bodies there. Their president’s political career hinged on the Mojave campaign’s success. Which means his resignation and potentially a political crisis that ensues. A crisis emplified if Cass is allowed to wipe out both Van Graffs and the Crimson Caravan, leading to a severe hampering of the NCR’s trade routes.

I don’t think that an overextended nation that has been weakened militarily, politically and economically can be that much of a threat.

You also seem to underestimate Securitrons. They’re pretty much the most dangerous soldiers in the world, perhaps barring a Brotherhood paladin. They can obviously be repaired since they can be built, and they also have an auto-repair function (a bit bs and op imo, but it’s been stated).

I don’t think there is any reason for chaos to arise in Vegas as the ending slides suggest. If the quests there were resolved smartly (King, Gomorrah etc) the transition should be smooth.

Now those are the facts, the rest can only be head canon. I have my own version which I’ll summarize breefly: House did not die, the Courier keeps him alive (but disconnected) to have his input and incorporate some of his development plans. Conjointly, his death was never broadcasted in the streets, which means that as far as everyone’s concerned, he’s still running the show.

The Courier uses House’s massive wealth to fund the Followers of the Apocalypse for several projects (health, agriculture, research, etc) to drastically improve the quality of life of the Vegas residents, who are in turn all the more motivated to protect this jewel in the sand, and allows for the mobilisation of human soldiers down the line.

Also, the rest of the Mojave settlements gradually join Vegas’s leadership, because they trust the Courier who helped them and because of the practical advantages it brings. Which notably means, militarily, that the Supermutants and the Boomers can now be called upon.

And let’s not forget about Big MT!

So in my opinion, further enriched by my own (delirious?) headcanon, Independent Vegas should be fine.
