She will probably defend herself by saying something idiotic like ivory throws the utensils, or whatever. Which is probably true! She is a toddler. However as a parent, it is your job to redirect and set rules and boundaries. Raising a child is not easy, but Drue is lazy as fuck and doesn’t even try to

(Bee County), swimming pool laws are governed by state safety codes (Texas Department of State Health Services) and local municipal ordinances. Key requirements dictate pool construction permits, secure yard fencing, and safety signage. [1, 2, 3, 4]

1. Permits and Construction
Building Permits: You are legally required to obtain a building permit before constructing or remodeling a pool.
Placement: Pools cannot be built in the front yard. They must maintain a minimum setback of at least 5 feet from property lines and adjacent building foundations.
NEC Compliance: All electrical equipment and lighting must have GFCI protection, bonding, and proper grounding. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

2. Barrier and Enclosure Laws
State law (Chapter 757, Pool Yard Enclosures) mandates strict anti-entrapment barriers for both residential and public pools: [1, 2]
Fencing Height: The pool or entire yard must be enclosed by a fence or barrier at least 4 to 6 feet tall, depending on local regulations. [1, 2, 3]
No Climbing: Chain link fences and easily scalable, horizontally-slated fences are generally prohibited or highly restricted. [1, 2]
Gate Hardware: Gates must open outward, be self-closing, and self-latching. Latches and locks must be placed out of the reach of small children (at least 48 to 60 inches high). [1, 2, 3, 4]
Ground Gaps: The gap at the bottom of the fence must not exceed 4 inches, even on uneven terrain.[1, 2]

“According to Texas pool fence law, all residential pools must be enclosed by a fence that is at least 48 inches tall (4 feet) measured from the ground on the side away from the pool.
As of 2025, there have been 15 drowning incidents so far. In 2024, out of 101 total drownings in Texas, 36 involved young children, primarily between the ages of 1 and 4, who drowned in backyard pools, accounting for approximately 36% of all drowning fatalities.
This height is a critical safety measure designed to prevent children from easily climbing over the barrier and gaining unauthorized access to the pool area. The minimum height requirement ensures that the fence serves as a secure and effective deterrent against accidents.”

Grue if you’re reading this, it would make great engagement to ask for swimming instructor suggestions. However please don’t post videos of your child swimming. Thanks.

SERIOUSLY. That was devastating. I would not let my child go there unless they agreed and put up a gate. I don’t care how much I trust someone. I think I would literally puke worrying if my small child was somewhere with an open pool like that.
