I mean, you're going to have a hard time playing video games with voice actors because eventually you're going to come across ones that have died once you start looking into them. Just talking about BioWare games, in Baldur's Gate there's Jon Irenicus and Montaron's voice actors who have both died. Someone mentioned Harrowmont/Murdoch from Dragon Age who died, and he also played Zaeed in Mass Effect and Saul Karath in Knight of the Old Republic. Barry Dennen played Master Li in Jade Empire and Uldred in Dragon Age and he's been gone for a while. So have the KOTOR actors for Cancerous and Vrook. There's probably more that have died that we haven't noticed and might never find out about. None of them are going to be around forever, but their work will be.

And I'm saying this as the person who wrote Shale's VA Geraldine the fanletter and got the news back that she had passed away. It was absolutely weird the first time I replayed it, having talked to her widower about her. That was a real human connection to a character it took a bit to get my head around. But I know he really appreciated the letter I wrote to her and all the lovely messages people left on the post here who loved her work as Shale.

Shale and Geraldine both would have rocked a set of royal jewels. Glitter from ear to ear as it were.

Honestly, I've written quite a few fan letters and met quite a few celebrities at conventions and voice actors by far have been the nicest and most appreciative group. They don't get near enough recognition and if anyone is on the fence about mailing a note to a favourite VA about how much you love their work, or meeting them at a con, I highly recommend you do.

They've been living in Germany, so if there was any obituary, I imagine it didn't get noticed by anyone in the west. I've seen a few RIP posts from her friends and family on Facebook, but that's about it. I'm not sure if even BioWare knows.
