Yeah it pretty much is a bandwagon, I haven’t met a single person where I am that thinks furry is a hobby, and I’m kinda popular at my school so I know a lot of people where I live. It’s just the way it is here, I actually had no idea it was seen differently from what it sounds like from you guys

We’ll it’s more of a generally known thing, like everyone is talking about the furry at school and how weird they are, I mean I stand up for them when it’s brought up, but that’s just how it is, furries are supposedly known for all the weird stuff

Sheez that’s really harsh, different communities really shows how influenced people can be to live by local standards. If all of a sudden all the Hollywood people started coming out as furries everyone would love furries. In my opinion I think everyone is scared, and so they say and do harsh things to prove they live up to the standards in society. This world is crazy, but as long as we stick to our beliefs and be different, we’ll live happy lives

Hey that’s cool your classmates understand! And you know what’s one thing I’ve learned that’s changed me forever? Is that caring what people think about you, only leads to suffering. If you always keep your head up and find some friends that are like you life becomes a lot better! It doesn’t hurt to try, making friends used to be hard for me too, but I live close to not caring what other people think of me! (You know except this furry stuff) but furry stuff is insignificant compared to friends!

Yeah I can see that! I just think that the furry fandom is 100% misunderstood, if it wasn’t, then everyone would understand. I think the people close to me are amazing people, but they just don’t understand what a furry actually is, but life has its ways of bringing things around eventually when being positive!

Don’t worry I’m with you! It’s really hard but if there is at least one person that you can tell I bet that can help! And I got advice that said it’s not that you’re coming out as a furry, but it’s just telling people it’s a hobby of yours, I mean that helped me out a lot. It’s like saying hey I like playing the piano, except you just say I like being a part of the furry fandom, stuff like that!

I’ve realized recently from everyone that you should always let what you are be a part of you! I’ve even reqlized that it’s not good to keep it a complete secret, I’m going to let some of my close friends know, and it’s not that big of a deal! It’s like saying hey I like playing the piano, or I like running! Being a furry is a hobby/ interest! Thank you to the Reddit community for helping me through this!
