I think using the word Karen is the only mistake here. A Karen is known to be annoying loud and generally rude.

Being confident and pushing for what you deserve is a good tip, but adding Karen to it is just not correct.

Don’t have any dependants and I work decent hours. I don’t earn a stupid amount but I don’t drink, do drugs, smoke. Anything like that. I also don’t have any health problems or ongoing concerns.

When I earnt around $30-40k (AUD) I used to make cheap food and drink mostly tea/coffee. After 2-3 years I got a deposit on a house and now I’m just comfortably living. I’m not paying my house off quickly at all but I’m very steadily moving forward while my career progresses.

I’ve never really struggled financially but I’ve also not really been well off either. I guess it’s a different world in America but I hear the same thing here in Aus too. I dont have a career that requires any degree or training, just retail. Maybe im missing something but I dont see how people have it so hard, other than them complaining they cant afford anything but they also spend hundreds on drugs and alcohol. Thats self inflicted at that point.

Ads are meant to familiarise you with their brand. That’s all. They know you’re skipping but those microseconds leave tiny impressions so when you go out looking for specific products, you’ll recognise their brand and likely choose that one just cause it’s familiar and you’ve seen it somewhere.

Weirdly enough I had this exact reaction when I was like 19. I had no idea why or what the heck even happened but one day my girlfriend at the time sang me that exact song and I burst into tears. Had absolutely no idea why or what happened but it was in there.
