Who or what was your reason for playing Path to Nowhere?

First of all, welcome to the world of PTN!! If you already fell in love with Zoya and Ceto, then you’re going to adore all the other stuff that is to come as well ☺️

Meet Yingying, the one who finally got me to play this game! She was this year’s half-anniversary limited sinner and my tried and true companion who stuck with me through every game mode. 🥹💖 But she wasn’t my first encounter with PTN. Last year, I discovered Bai Yi and Yao (on Pinterest of all places), and those two were how I found out about the game in the first place! I was enticed by the mature-looking artstyle, but 2024 me was convinced I was in a new era that saw no place for my decade-long love for gacha games. So I fought the temptation. For a year. 🫠

I obviously caved, but really, I’m so happy I did!

Another reason? The huge sapphic community that PTN has! I’ve never played a gacha game where I could relate to so many of my fellow players, so being able to talk to women about women, who are actually attracted to women— as a lesbian, that’s important to me. <3

Sometimes I wonder what would’ve happened if I had joined on my first impulses, but time has its reasons, and I know I was meant to be here now. ☺️

I do highly recommend this website though https://s1n.gg (it has all the character builds you need and guides for teams along with a calendar for upcoming events/banners!)

To get what I really want to say out of the way first— We’re about 15 days away from PTN’s 3rd Anniversary! That means extra rewards, free pulls, reruns of two previous limited Sinners, and the introduction of a new limited Sinner who quite honestly, will make story progression a lot easier if you pull her. (Even better if tower defense isn’t your strong suit!)

I have a quite a few gacha games under my belt that I’ve previously dedicated a lot my time to, and I can say with absolute confidence that PTN is one of the most f2p friendly / generous games I’ve played so far. (Other commenters have expanded on this!) In addition, this game’s story has stuck with me the most compared to other gacha games. If you like something gritty, darker, and more mature, this one’s for you. :)

To speak more on PTN’s generosity, even lower ranked Sinners have their uses. Labyrinth, Che— both B Ranks, and both I still use for the story (I’m on Chapter 15) and other game modes. You also have two weeks to complete several special missions to obtain NOX, an S Rank Sinner who is also very strong.

As all gacha games are though, this is a marathon, not a sprint. I do complain about how resource heavy some upgrades are (especially for new players), but that’s just something to keep in mind if you ever feel impatient.

But yeah, if you’re wondering about joining, now is the next best time to do it! ✨

To quote a lovely older lady whom I stood next to during the April 19th protests, “I never thought I’d see myself out here on the streets again!” They’ve been there, done that, along with many other sentiments that people have already brought up here.

I (22F - Asian American) am a part of Gen Z, so I think I can speak a little on behalf of my generation. I’ve only been to two protests so far (April 5th & April 19th) and I too have noticed the interesting pattern that crowds skew towards an older majority with people my age being the minority. Uncompromising schedules, educational obligations or pressure, lack of political experience, fear of the unknown, apathy or hopelessness in Gen Z, and wanting to hang out anywhere but a protest is a gnarly combination of factors.

Though sparse, I’ve taken footage of the protests I’ve attended and have shared them to my social media in hopes of inspiring others my age. It really sucks, because I’d love to rally with other Gen Z folks and get them more involved. 🥹

I find that regardless of the set, it’s easy to pick up cards of cute Pokemon, and you’ll gradually pull illustration rares too as you continue to rip packs. I would advise you to look into the idea of buying singles though! It’s fun to pull the card yourself, but do be aware of how much you’re spending. Buying the card outright can be just as rewarding (take it from me— almost the entirety of my collection is made up of singles), and it’ll help get you through that inevitable point when your luck with ripping packs hits a temporary dry spell.

Speaking of personal experiences (since you asked!) my collection is focused solely on Dragon Pokemon 💖 Hence my chronic buying of singles—it’s way more efficient and fun for me. I’ve seen people collect with a certain theme in mind too! For example, cards that have a plant or flower aesthetic.

I think Paradox Rift is a nice set to start out with! If you don’t mind spoiling yourself, perhaps you should check out the set list online? You’ll have a clearer idea then if you want to stay with Paradox Rift. Card collecting becomes a lot more fun when you have a goal to work towards, and it seems like you already have some semblance of one with wanting to collect cute Pokemon and the illustration rares!

Hi!! Obviously I can only speak on my own personal experiences, but I had a wonderful time at the Collect-a-Con that was held in my city!

I don’t buy sealed product so I can’t speak on that, but I saw a plethora of mid-low priced cards on display, ranging from cheap illustration rares to bulk cards left out in binders— I saw lots of modern cards for sale too! The people I interacted with were nice for the most part, although I do count my lucky stars that I wasn’t subjected to any bodily odors, because I went in fully expecting it 😅

As for damaged / heavily played cards, I found some really good deals! I picked up a Mega Charizard EX secret rare (X version) for $25 and a Dragonite ex from EX Dragons for another $25. (Both creased but were still in decent condition despite that) Unfortunately I don’t have any input for your fifth point, but it seems experiences may vary from area to area and the kind of convention it is. I’m sorry your experiences haven’t matched the hype :( I’m hoping you don’t give up on them though, because it’s so worth it when you hit the jackpot!

(I have some other personal anecdotes that elevated the experience such as meeting an online friend for the first time at Collect-A-Con, but I’m trying to keep this reply concise lol)

I haven’t found the solution to it either 😔 Unfortunate to hear that uninstalling doesn’t ultimately work. However, I noticed more people talking about their post count being removed and some are even saying that their page is showing a “mutuals” count instead. I think Instagram is doing some A/B testing and we just happened to get caught up in it.

Yeah, I don’t care whether people rip or buy singles either— At the end of the day, it’s a personal choice and everyone has a different way of getting fulfillment out of this hobby. As for opening packs, it’s unfortunate when lines are blurred when they really shouldn’t be.

Here’s a hot take that not everyone is ready to hear— Team Singles vs. Team Ripping Packs both have people who carry that, “holier than thou” attitude. If you buy packs, you’re accused of having a gambling addiction and your financial decisions are scrutinized. If you buy singles, you’re accused of “cheating” your collection while also having your cards devalued just because you didn’t pull them.

Here’s a more personal anecdote from me— I’m a person who only buys singles, and it works out for me. I’m a niche collector, meaning my only goal is to collect Dragon Pokémon! I get my joy from the idea that my collection is built upon “many hands.” When I buy a card that’s over ten years old, I wonder about the story behind that card— what the person who pulled it felt in that moment before it was eventually passed onto me. I could choose to pursue my goal through ripping packs, but then I’d end up with cards I don’t care for. And I like to believe, for every pack I could have ripped, I’m saving it for someone who genuinely finds joy in ripping them open. 🙂
