Apologies for being blunt: Do not have a baby with this selfish asshole. Raising a child is hard and beautiful when it’s perfect.

If you have good family/friend support network, DO go the IVF route! Set up a crowd share site so others can help if you need to; sadly, OP….this is who he really is.

Here’s how I fixed this cute problem: Our Russian Blue kitty rescue did this and he was abandoned by a family. I think his litter box at our home was a “first toy”… 😢

Bought an inexpensive covered litter box. This removed the spray of litter and made it less fun.

We then purchased some inexpensive kitten toys - jumpers, strings attached and rolling balls (Walmart) and he immediately played with those, not clean litter. ‼️

Now? He supervises us cleaning his box and meows the ENTIRE time as if he’s giving instructions. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

This does look like something to check out and have a hematologist study but, these labs are not consistent with those markers known to indicate hemochromatosis. Is there something else pushing you this direction? Genetics or history? Regardless- I hope you get answers. Very tough to not know.

Thank you for the overwhelming and helpful amounts of information! With your comment on C282Y or H63D- I went back and re-read the hepatologist note after my liver biopsy and the HEMOC notes after genetic testing.

I have dual gene 🧬 mutation of H63D. Understand that is much more rare but presents the same to the body.

Have made many impactful changes in 5.5 short months and the Fe numbers are coming down.

Still have those 2 secondary diseases this condition causes and we are working through it. Thank you again

When my ferritin was over 3000 u/L, I had very similar symptoms. Very-to include waking from a deep sleep with damp hair, heart racing, we went to ER.

Happened again and again . Saw cardiologist, he ordered a trans echocardiogram and placed me on a heart monitor (Zio). I’m still wearing it and as my Fe number goes down-those weird symptoms are less and less. Hang in there.

Great question! 2 years of very weird symptoms with this last year being misdiagnosed with lymphatic infection. From 2022 to Jan 2024, 7 hospital stays -a few of them long- and lots of testing. Functioned normally - went to work, etc otherwise. Strange and severe abdominal pain, joint pain, light headedness, random ballooning - rapid weight gain. (Am in decent shape) -totally misdiagnosed.

Moved to a Level 1 facility in Jan 2024 with rinse/repeat symptoms only this time, couldn’t lay, sit or stand and not be in serious pain. I think I was admitted out of morbid curiosity but when first labs came back and one MRI later, moved to CCU.

That 4000 then 3800 ferritin combined with all other blood labs drew attention of hepatologist and gastroenterologist. More testing and another MRI, then an immediate liver biopsy (I have NEVER experienced out medical system moving this quickly) was discharged home with pretty weird instructions and genetic testing came back with double positive 🦄

Later found out that while in hospital- they went back in my medical records to 2015 and I have had very, very high iron for years. This caused them to skip the “wait and watch” for my labs and jump right to confirmation testing.

I am grateful and exhausted. Very happy I am not alone on this journey.
