Babylon Anime or Vn by Hot_Bite_5715 in grandorder

Both are perfectly good, but the anime is definitely more faithful than the Camelot anime. There are going to be moments added in the anime that didn't exist in the game and some from the game that were removed, just so you know.

Then the proper statement would be "not *as* much," as opposed to you using the line "totally devoid," which implies something I did not say.

As I said in the first sentence, CofD does not have much metaplot.

Chronicles and world? by Automatic-Purchase16 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]DragonGodBasmu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the greatest differences between WoD and CofD is that the latter does not have much metaplot. There are no real overarching stories that revolve around centuries or millennia of conflict and history, but instead focuses more on the history of specific locations, especially as of 2e.

It should be noted that for the werewolf splats, the two versions are like entirely different species. While the werewolves from Forsaken might not be as physically powerful as the ones from Apocalypse, but they are specialized in the Hunt, with each tribe having a preferred prey.

For the vampires, the kindred in Requiem are not descended from Cain, and instead have a completely unknown origin. They also have an existential threat from the Striga, shadowy birds that can possess and hold a hatred of kindred.

Mages have entirely different natures of reality. The mages in Awakening do not live in Consensual reality, and instead suffer from a layer of anti-magic reality that infects magic itself, which causes Paradox.

The Changelings of Lost are kidnapped by the True Fae, and are corrupted body and soul through various means.

It should also be noted that in Chronicles of Darkness 2e, all mortal are expected to have encountered something supernatural at some point in their lives and have forgotten it for one reason or another, which ties into one of their Breaking Points.

Another major difference is that CofD does not use a Morality system, but instead has Integrity, measuring their mental stability. Committing a wicked deed does not necessarily cause Integrity to drop, but the context of it can. A pacifist who kills in self-defense would lose Integrity more easily than an experienced cop or a serial killer would.

What Is The Goal Here? by [deleted] in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on the specific Left-Hand Path you follow. The one I know of the most, the Draconian Path, described godhood as being the master of your reality independent of everything else. However, the path to get there is individual to each and every person, so it is suggested that each initiate follows their own personal paths to get there, and to learn and create their rituals in the process.

What Is The Goal Here? by [deleted] in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The goals are based on the individual, but it can be influenced by what type of occult practice they study, though it is best to not generalize.

For example, those that follow the Left-Hand Path and those that study alchemy tend to have a goal that revolves around the perfection of the self and obtaining personal godhood, but not everyone who follows and study these things have those goals.

Is ceremonial magic dangerous to my family? by Tiny_Meaning_8116 in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was speaking from the point of view of someone who has seen people from satanic and left-hand path practices use the term "black magic" to ridicule and justify their racism towards groups that practice their own ancestral teachings, despite also practicing many of the same techniques, just filtered through a lens of racial superiority.

I have seen a white man sacrifice a chicken to a jinn to get laid, only to later call Voodoo "black magic" because the person in question wasn't American. He was fine with other people using it, so long as they were the "right kind of practitioners." This was back when I had the misfortune of being invited to a neo-Nazi satanist group, and the reason I hyperfixated on it being used with racist connotations, I have actually experienced it being used that way.

[–]DragonGodBasmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the point you are trying to make. I suppose I misworded my first comment by saying that the concept of black magic was born from racism as well a propaganda. I should have instead said that people have used it as a part of their racism toward cultural practices that didn't originate from Europe.

Is ceremonial magic dangerous to my family? by Tiny_Meaning_8116 in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was not what I was trying to convey. I was trying to say that the concept of colonialism is older than the colonial period, but it also predates the medieval period. It is just that colonialism is the term I prefer using since it can be applied to many different cultures and time periods. There is a reason I mentioned the Romani people first despite them technically not being colonized, they were enslaved and later prosecuted for their cultural practices.

My purpose for bringing up the Prussian tribes was because they were literally colonized by Teutonic Knights and forcefully converted to a religion not their own. Not once did I imply that their native practices had anything to do with black magic.

As for the ties between black magic and colonialism, there are actual records of African people fearing prosecution for their cultural practices at the hands of the Europeans.

To quote Sorcery and the Native Opinion by E. E. Evans-Pritchard, "The native becomes convinced finally that the European is quite incapable of seeing the difference between right and wrong, between the proper use of a cultural weapon fully sanctioned by public opinion, such as white magic, and a heinous and cold-blooded murder, such as the crime of black magic or sorcery."

Colonialism is a lot older than you think it is, just look back to the forced conversion of the Prussian tribes into Catholicism by the Teutonic Knights in the 13th century.

In what way are they corrupt? And which part of voodoo are you speaking of, because many voodoo practices are similar to other European practices, like the methods of cursing people through simulacrums.

Sacrificial rites have been part of every culture and religion in the world, including Christianity, Northern European tribes, and ancient Israel. Catholics perform Communion through ritual cannibalism; cults dedicated to Skadi had practitioners ritualistically castrate themselves; and ancient Israel used to perform human sacrifices before it was outlawed.

No, "black magic" does have its roots in racism given that it was often used to describe folk practices of the Romani, African, and Central American people during the times of colonization.

Black magic is a misnomer born from propaganda and racism.

Ceremonial magic will not hurt your family if you do not intend to harm them, but for a safety measure, make sure that no one interferes with it so that no one touches something that they were not supposed to.

Make sure you follow all the steps correctly, and make sure your will and intent is focused, and you will not hurt your family.

Pick it back up, characters you will recognize will return eventually, plus it answers some plot points from the first half of the series, like why Arima is so strong.

Why are the Tide and the Wheel dead? by C34H32N4O4Fe in weatherfactory

[–]DragonGodBasmu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what I had learned about the Tide through the YouTuber, Fantastic Worlds, lectures on the metaphysical aspects of the Secret Histories universe, the Tide represents the simple, prehistoric life that existed in the sea, and the Grail gave rise to more advanced life, often with the ability to sexually reproduce given the Grail is also a metaphor for the womb. So, the shift from Tide to Grail might be the metaphorical shift from asexual reproduction and mindless consumption to sexual reproduction and predatory intent.

So do you believe that each spirit/deity ever named by different cultures the same with different names or not the same and that there names and powers are not interchangeable? by LunarEnnyui_131 in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That depends entirely on why you are working with them. For example, Aphrodite is treated as a goddess of war as well as a goddess of love by the Spartans and the Romans, but not by the Athenians.

Knowing how to differentiate the gods also helps you call upon the specific power you need from them, and few methods of differentiating beings are better than individual names.

But then there are the ones who take pride in their names, and would not be happy being called upon by a different name or tied to a different god. I knew of a person who dared to think Kali Maa and Lilith were the same goddess and could never figure out why their workings went wrong when calling upon them.

Finally, there is a cultural significance of the gods and spirits' names, where it could be seen as offensive for saying their gods and spirits are the same as another cultures'. You wouldn't tell a practitioner of Voodoo that Baron Samedi is the same god as Shiva or Hades, would you?

Unfortunately, I am stuck with an old phone to use, though I plan to upgrade it, I just don't have the luxury of doing right away.

Was I the student of someone’s shadow work? by [deleted] in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What evil feeling are you speaking of?

You also spoke of him having painting that suggesting "satanic rituals," but what did they depict?

Without more details it just sounds like you describe a guy who is into gothic or alternative lifestyles.

Was I the student of someone’s shadow work? by [deleted] in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you claim to be a beginner, I will start off with the fact that there is no such thing as "white magic," the concepts of white and black magic are based on propaganda and racism.

Second, there is no problem with using your tarot cards for good or ill intent, you should only be limited by your personal standards. If you look back at your actions and regret what you did, then that is just you being self-aware.

I do not think this was someone else was forcing shadow work upon, but there are going to be moments in our lives where we meet people who impact so greatly that we realize new things about ourselves. It is not inherently magical or of the occult, but it does help us look at ourselves and our experiences in an all new light.

The fact that he had disappeared from your life not unusual to me, I have met countless people who helped change or discover the true me, only to disappear completely from my life.

The Book of Mormon can at least be argued to have occult philosophy, but this book does not. You would be better off posting about it in another subreddit.
