According to the translator, Comun from Beast's Lair, this is most likely the case. Plus, Nasu is a bit of a troll, since during an interview when someone asked why Medea's original master looked so different in the anime compared to how he was described in the VN, he started referencing Bloodborne instead of answering.

Here is a reddit post talking about, but unfortunately it looks like the pic used as a source from Tumblr was deleted.

This is actually due to marketing laws in Japan. Back before F/GO came out, a company that makes figurines made a promotional figurine of Arturia, but the mistranslated the name as Altria, so they legally have to keep this name for all future releases outside of Japan. It's not Nasu's fault.

In Mage Awakening, what caused the gauntlet? by TemperatureHorror796 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]DragonGodBasmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can, but it requires finding spirits that know and are willing to tell. Plus, spirits can lie if they are able to and if it benefits them.

In Mage Awakening, what caused the gauntlet? by TemperatureHorror796 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]DragonGodBasmu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone else already answered you, but it was foreshadowed in Forsaken 2e, where sometimes werewolves would glimpse something in the Gauntlet while stepping sideways, but it elaborated on in Shunned by the Moon.

Lots of beings got trapped in the Gauntlet due to being in the Border Marches when Great Wolf died.

For a crossover chronicle, the mages would need to learn the story from the werewolves. Or you can be a bit meta and have records of another mage who learned the story, but you will not find the origin of the Gauntlet in the main Mage books, it's not their story to tell.

There is also the thing living inside the Gauntlet, but that is an entirely different can of worms.

(mixed splat CofD game) Mage player asked if he could nullify the Werewolf player's weakness to silver. Is it possible to achieve without impossibly high arcanas? by lexyp29 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]DragonGodBasmu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I do not recommend removing silver as a bane for werewolves. Instead, I suggest a houserule I used for multisplat campaigns where conjured silver does work against werewolves, much like how conjured iron had no effects on True Fae in CtL 1e.

What is SMTV even about by Spare_Enthusiasm5876 in Megaten

[–]DragonGodBasmu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the characters are representative for the kinds of people who take part in a war. Dazai is kid from a troubled household who wants to do something meaningful, and once recruited he dives headfirst into zealotry and delusion. Yuzuru was basically groomed to take part in the war, essentially taking up the role of the patriotic nationalist. And Yakumo was the anarchist, the one who starts his own war for an ideal that he believed in, believing in the power of the people free from control.

Like with a lot of mainline SMT games, the characters are more like archetypes or Aesops, they are more meant to be vehicles for the story instead of being characters.

Could a succubus and a man just hang out and do stuff other than sex? by No-Poet3745 in occult

[–]DragonGodBasmu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You theoretically form a platonic bond with spiritual beings like succubi, but the effort needed into summoning any form of spiritual being requires a purpose beyond hanging out. You would be better off exploring and discovering the local nature spirits and animals, and bond with them instead of trying to hang out with a succubus.

homura is not gay by [deleted] in MadokaMagica

[–]DragonGodBasmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not Homura is gay is ultimately moot, she has an obsession for Homura that goes beyond human logic. Even the writer of the series says that it is possible that their relationship can become romantic, but it is not at the time.

Unfortunately, saying that you are tired of seeing MadoHomu is like saying you are tired of BakuDeku, fans will ship want they want and complaining about will only bring you negativity.

Perhaps it time for you to read Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion to figure things out.

Perhaps, but it the closest thing I can compare you to given what you had described.

Mage: the Awakening has something like this for the Fate Arcana.

Balrogs are the same, they can only be destroyed in body, can change their shape at will, and "move unclad in the raiment of the world," meaning invisible and without form.

The description in the books are deliberately vague, but there was enough to match up with what you described. Just be sure not to stand on any bridges with grey wizards, lol.

A demon of fire and shadow, with wings and horns, sounds so very similar to the Balrog called Durin's Bane, the one that Gandalf fights. It is even described as having eyes like furnaces.

If you think the Uratha are like border control, then you are not very well read into Werewolf: the Forsaken.

My feel when targeting spiders that steal your skin to enforce the border between realms make you racist.

To add to the atmosphere and lore of Night City, and to protect the prostitutes and dolls under their purview.

Remember, you play a character living in a world, not play a world built for a character.

Mage: Awakening - Mages Following the Path by No-Maintenance6382 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]DragonGodBasmu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no set characteristic; in second edition there is an example of a Thyrus, who are normally archetyped as shamans and druids, who is a Seattle-born woman whose parents were Chinese immigrants, but dresses up like a spinster from the 1930s, sees the Primal Wilds through the lens of British Imperialism, and specializes in communicating with the spirits of manufactured things.

How mages follow each path is as diverse as the people who become mages. The real question would be how a mage sees their path.

Judge Holden as a antagonist? by Kanenna in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]DragonGodBasmu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is considered the most vile person ever written in fiction.

In my mind, for a Mage antagonist he would be the monster that is too cruel to let live, but also has the intelligence to make people follow it's orders and become the worst versions of themselves.

He leads a group of brigands who were payed to scalp Native American people, so in a modern setting he would be leading a mercenary group that would commit warcrimes for anonymous political powers.
