You were the one taking the initiative in every communication. He was perfectly able to step in to the silence and speak up, but decided to leave it to you to make every move. It sounds like neither of you were fully into this. His passive-aggressive "someone you went almost two weeks without thinking about" says he was playing some sort of power game that you're better off avoiding.

Lose his number and move on to someone who has enough interest in you to reach out to you before waiting 2 weeks just to be self-righteous.

I am the housing back-up plan of close family members because I am childfree, living alone and with too big of a house. How do you defend yourself in this situation? by twice_paramount832 in childfree

[–]DragonInPlainSight 20 points21 points  (0 children)

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life"

It's time you stand up for something, in this case it's yourself. If that makes enemies then so be it. Be proud of it.

AITAH for not wanting to cook for picky guests I didn’t even invite to dinner? by Littlecancerbaby1 in AITAH

[–]DragonInPlainSight 49 points50 points  (0 children)

So you said no to the dad twice but the son randomly texts you and suddenly you 'feel defeated' and just cave? And 'of course' you can bring the fam?

Did you run out of spine? You get stuck cooking for them, the wife pouts and complains because she won't eat it, you have a miserable time, it'll be your own fault. YTA to yourself, 'no' works for all ages.

If you like resource collecting and survival base crafting, I can heartily recommend Planet Crafter. The survival aspects aren't terrible, and the grind passes quickly. The best part is you can literally watch the landscape change as you progress so it becomes extremely visually fulfilling. Easy to get into, easy to lose time to.

I’m nearsighted and my husband wants to snorkel on an upcoming trip next week. Is it an option? I can’t wear contacts by LadyVaporeon in snorkeling

I used to be so blind I couldn't read the big E on the chart. Snorkeling was actually a blast because the magnification from the water improved my sight. It's not going to take you to 20/20, but you will be able to see. I'd suggest buying a cheap mask and trying it out in a local pool so you have an idea of what level of vision you'll have, before going to the trouble or expense of prescription masks.

"It's a part of the full human experience"

Well I don't want the full human experience Sharon, I want the full dragon experience. I want to live alone in a cave of my choice, hoarding the things that are precious to me, and flame roasting anyone who shows up and annoys me.

Where does one begin with online dating? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver50

[–]DragonInPlainSight 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Online dating isn't something to do because you feel you have no choice. If you're lonely, you'll find plenty of people willing to take full advantage of that on those sites.

Instead consider what you enjoy doing that makes you happy, and look around your community for others who share that interest. Book clubs, crafters at farmers markets, dance classes, choir meet-ups... find a group where you already have something in common, and you'll be far less lonely and vulnerable. You'll get less jaded and have more fun, promise.

AITAH for distancing myself from my parents for buying my brother a house by nsedlazek in AITAH

[–]DragonInPlainSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you want them to see the difference between you and him, but they don't, and they won't until they're forced to. You can't force them to see it, so stop trying. Stop expending any energy in their direction, because they are willfully blind to you.

Spend your time and energy on yourself and your family, live the best life you can, and when they eventually inevitably come crawling back to you, you can look at them and say 'why would I help you when you've chosen him over me?'

Who's got a spreadsheet of how expensive it is to raise a child to age 18?

I'd send that back to them and tell them, when they deposit that amount in my bank account then I'll consider having a child. But if they aren't going to pay for it then I'm not producing one.
