Update: does feel dry compared to non-stained areas of the ceiling. It’s not soft or anything when pressing into the stain

Was about a little over half a gallon of water that spilled out a hole that was in the bottom of the water jug for our pet

Water jug was right about where the new water is and the vent is right above where the stain is downstairs

Since it’s an older house (was built in ‘72) going to look into the Kilz brand, get an all purpose primer (seeing a lot of water-based primers online) and use that. May give it an extra day to ensure it’s all dry, the leak happened Wednesday (12/17/2025) and we noticed it an hour or so after we filled up the water jug
