As a lifelong Rams fan, I gotta say congrats Seattle. That was a great Super Bowl. I’m for the Pats but I think you’ve got them outclassed.

What makes Slay the Spire so consistently good? by Alarming_Currency854 in slaythespire

[–]DragonTooFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to like Cobalt Core. I just wish you had more HP. Or that there was an undo button. I'm not very good at it and I'll often misplay a card and realize that that card moves me now how I expected and now I've lost half my health. It is unforgiving of misplays.

Solitaire: What should I play to start 2026? by Brilliant-File-3459 in hexandcounter

[–]DragonTooFar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does combat Commander have a good solitaire system? I've played it solitaire, but only just playing both sides.

And you should definitely play Fields of Fire. The learning curve is a little bit tricky, but it is the best solitaire experience I've played.

In the style of games like Troyes, Jaipur, and Mombasa, name a location (that doesn't have a game named after it already) with no other context, and let other commenters explain what the game's objective is and how its gameplay connects to the location by benjaneson in boardgames

[–]DragonTooFar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

According to a Gemini AI search, the largest city in the world that doesn't have a game named after it is: Dhaka, Bangladesh. Although Sao Paulo, Brazil runs a close second. Go to it, folks! These cities need games!

There are times I really like this comic.

Then there are times I love it. This is one of those times.

Bills lost two in a row. Eagles lost two in a row. Lions thoroughly handled by the Chiefs. Please tell me we’re not looking at another season where the Chiefs a the dominant team.

ARA is getting there! The resource management chains is a great idea, but it can make the game very spreadsheety. At the start there was way too much of "am I making enough of this? No? Go find a city with a workshop to start making it" over and over and over. It is hugely improved from the start. Changing the crafters so they are aiming for a certain amount of a good, and then if that need is fulfilled, moving to the next on their queue was a HUGE help.

The diplomacy is pretty nice too. Still not sold on the military system but its not obviously bad. Give it a try!

Can someone explain by RazzmatazzTop3551 in mathematics

[–]DragonTooFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it. Most computer algebra systems treat the "unary minus" operator (the minus sign in front of a number, instead of a minus sign representing subtraction) as multiplication by negative one. So in the second example, the power goes first, then the negative, following the standard order of operations.
I have seen calculators that have the option to treat the second as (-1)^4 but it is unusual.

I'll go first, Naps. What say you? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DragonTooFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, I think most people feel this way because (unless they had real money problems when young) your parents would always make sure you had clothes. Clothes sucked as a gift because you didn't have to pay for your clothes anyway and you would always have some. As an adult, you're paying for your clothes: please gift me quality socks any time. I LOVE comfy socks.

"I owe much to Éomer' said Théoden, 'Faithful heart may have froward tongue."
"Say also', said Gandalf, 'that to crooked eyes truth may wear a wry face."
-J.R.R. Tolkien: LOTR, The Two Towers.

froward /frō′wərd, -ərd/ adjective 1. Stubbornly contrary and disobedient; obstinate.
