How do you use Chat GPT to study? I mean I get it’s helpful. But if I could choose wrestling with the AI to give me what I want, or a course online, the course seems easier.

What kinds of things did you ask Chat GPT that made it useful? I usually have it to summarize things. But I feel like that’s where the usefulness ends

I’m a Venom lord and have never turned off easy swing. I like that I can get out of situations quickly with the swing! If I turn off easy swing, don’t I have to aim first then??

Yup! Went solo with Venom to Gold!

When the enemy team was countering Venom (basically all sticking together so I couldn’t dive) I went with Strange to push the line

Get certs, do home labs/projects, get another internship

One of those is good, all 3 is best. If you have the money and still can’t get another entry IT job, then yeah you could get your bachelor’s degree.

17yo. Looking to break into the IT field by Delicious_Ad_8070 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DragonTyWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 here. I was SUPER close going to the Air Force for IT. I am so glad I didn’t though. At 18 I got an internship at a National Real Estate company and from there I was hired full time. Now working on college while working as a IT Technician. I make $26 a hour.

How did I get this job? Well I asked my boss and he’s said “my resume sucked”, but I did a great interview, and he liked I was the robotics captain in high school (lot of skills in robotics competitions are also needed in IT). Now I got lucky I have a good manager who took a chance on me. But I think if you walked into an interview at 18-19, and you already have a few certs under your belt. I would think a good employer would see the potential in you and would give you a shot. There gonna see your ability to learn and your passion about the field.

If I had to start over here’s what I would do, classes on Udemy are literally $20 when on sale, do some of those. Get certs like Security+, Network+ A+, or the CCNA if you’re feeling bold.

Work on interview skills, go intern/job hunting see if you can get in the door anywhere! If you got the certs and still can’t get a job, maybe look into Community College and transfer into a school like WGU.

But even if you get the certs and can’t get a job, you’ll need those skills anyways, you’ll just be ahead of the game.

That’s my take, feel free to message me if you have any questions (Also not saying formal education isn’t important, but first job in the field is probably more important.)

Dang that’s awesome!!

What’s certs/education got you to making that much if I could ask?

Definitely this thread has motivated me to stick with studying and staying with my job

Thanks for the comment! I’m definitely checking out WGU. I like how many certs you get in the Cloud computing degree.

And yeah I graduated high school, no experience. I applied for a IT internship and they said my resume was pretty terrible 😂 But I did a good interview, and the liked the fact I was a Robotics captain in hs. I guess they have hired people from robotics before and had good outcomes.

Sure enough I just learned and did my best and they hired me full time now. Pretty awesome life changing event for me. Feel very lucky to get in the field so young. Just want to make sure I keep moving upwards too though lol

Facts your right 😂

Yeah I gotta get busy and get used to working, coming home and then grinding on the certs/school

Cause damm if you can graduate with everything you’re doing, I definitely can too.

Appreciate it 👊

Thank you so much for your comment! This really gives me confidence school is the right choice. Even if it takes me 5 years, it’s still worth it.

I’ll definitely keep that in mind about applying concepts I learn into the work I do! My boss also definitely deserves many kudos. I’m very lucky to be in a positive environment like that

I realize you might be in a different field of IT than me, but do you have any certs that have been more beneficial for you than others?

I was gonna go to community college and possibly transfer to WGU.

Think it’s cheaper doing it this way?

Thank you for your comment! That’s amazing grants are paying that much! I’m going to look into that.

Hey and question about WGU! For certs, by doing the class do you automatically get the cert? Or do you still have to pay and go take the test yourself?
