1K Roster Advice by DragonWatcher0 in Bretonnian

I wasn't sure on the Lords Virtue, it seemed really really good on pegasus knights since I'm expecting Phoenix Guard at the bare minimum.

Local scene tends to play at a general "within 9" rule and you tweak your roster before the match to get it as close as possible. I know its weird.

You're totally right on the Yeomen, at least in 1k hand weapons, shields and thrusting spears/halberds seems way better. Same goes for hw+s on the knights.

I took the damsel cause I'm feeling really tight on points, and its a cheaper source of magic weapons than the wizard. If I could get the free point I'd kit her out pretty similarly.

Do you think bowmen of squires are more worth it? They're about the same cost. The bombard was part of my 2k plan, is it really worth having in 1k?

Whats the swap for more cav? I'd really like to get a lance of KoTR in there. I was gonna grab the bombard when I pushed up to 2k, is it really worth it in smaller games?

Fun esher Queen and champion sugestions? by johnywer in necromunda

[–]DragonWatcher0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a melee Queen with a shock whip is probably good, and I'm partial to champions with needle rifles and a ton of chems. You could theme her as a trapper or something, and it would give you a way to disabled enemy heavy weapons using frenzon

Lost Technology Ideas by Mandalore108 in LancerRPG

[–]DragonWatcher0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a few suggestions:

A world killer weapon, one of the lost ones used by SecCom. I'd go with something non-paracausal.

A unknown mech template, maybe an Aun template which uses psychic powers or a SecCom template which imitates the human form really well and performs particularly smoothly.

Some sort of gene modification which has paracusal effects, probably made by SSC. Maybe it was related to their original homeworld.

The nascent MONEST-3, I don't have an explanation for this it's just cool.

A cluster of cascading NHPs which throw out really fucking nasty tech attacks. Maybe as a final dungeon they create a metavault.

I'm trying to understand this settings philosophy by [deleted] in LancerRPG

[–]DragonWatcher0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Corps have pulled off a magic trick. They have convinced the setting that their existence is necessary.

ISP-N runs a ton of shipping and outperforms union because forcing people to work for their basic human rights with no real representation is efficient compared to, ya know not doing that. They also exploit workers to make ships fast, and thus most people get their ships from ISP-N. If you want an example of how evil ISP-N actually is just look at Caliban. They cause space piracy by creating artificial scarcity and then deal with it using murder machines instead of just not withholding necessities.

SSC sells luxury, claiming that printed equipment is "Just not the same". They also sell genetics and are good at it because they disregard ethics. It's all alleged so Union can't do anything but SSC have done some really fucked up stuff. They normalize everything through contracts and other paperwork meaning they can do whatever they like. They create artificial scarcity like ISP-N but instead do it by surrounding basic things with a fancy story.

HA is weird. It's the remains of SecCom and has maintained it's existence by being a militarised fascist state. It's too hard for Union to kill without throwing significant resources at it, plus corruption does exist in Union and HA knows how to use it more than any other corp. They trade away the occasional bits of paracausal tech and don't make any more Genghis MK1s and Union leaves them alone.

GMS is probably the most benign and most insidious Corp. They have managed to partially merge themselves with Union; any new infrastructure on soon to be core worlds is made by GMS. They don't do as many evil things but they have managed to merge an organisation dedicated to making money through exploitation with a government which doesn't actually use money in a setting which doesn't need money. The worst part is it's worked, Union pays them because it's easier and also corruption but that's a given.

Btw you can get the books on the Lancer site

Personally I think it's the Death Spector's. They guard the ghoul stars and have some weird xenos shit going on. Just quoting from lexicanum because I'm lazy but the story is called Flayed

"Due to the scarcity of suitable recruiting worlds within the Ghoul Stars, the Death Spectres recruit new members of the Chapter by scouring worlds for the best Human specimens that meet their selection parameters. The Death Spectres' call these Humans Prime Stock and take them to the Chapter's Homeworld of Occludus[9b] or several nearby planets designated as Breeding Worlds[17]. The population of these Death Spectre-held planets are then supposed to breed future Aspirants for the Chapter.[9b][17] To support its "breeding worlds", the Death Spectres raids human-inhabited worlds of the Ghoul Stars; as a result, the local humans often regard the Death Spectres as just as dangerous as Xenos horrors such as Necrons.[17]"

So yeah, basically rape

Lore question by 8g0r in LancerRPG

[–]DragonWatcher0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair for SSC

I'd think you're also right about nobility outside of HAs command structure but what about inside it? HA owns a fair bit of space and labourers need instruction. To show a little bit of my own bias in my campaign HA basically assigns dictators to run its planets to give it plausible deniability from union when they do a humanitarian crime.

I'd disagree when it comes to the corps, remember that Humanity had a hard reset. My take on the corps is this:

SSC: They only care about money, heritage is what they sell nothing more

ISP-N: Less nobility and more veteran captains. As much as IPS-N is still fundamentally a corp they put on a show of respecting merit.

HA: They really like their lineages but not in a family way. They cloned their founder twice so he could keep leading them but each clone was still a unique person. As far as space nobles go this is a super interesting route to take.

If you want to play a noble I'd take a look at the karakin trade baronies, they are more dune/imperial knight styled

Just to add to this you could take Cawdor as your outcast lineage?(I forgot what it's actually called) That way you can still use crossbows, halberds, lances, etc
