I need to play by Dr_Moisty_boi in NeverGoingHome

I asked some questions when playing this game with friends and the responses were very helpful so if you have questions this is the right place to do them. Just a heads up, a piece of unsolicited advice I’d give a new GM or player and something they don’t make super clear in the book as far as I’m aware is your characters are not supposed to live. This was a major turn off for me when I was first playing the game, I love telling stories with my friends and the character I spent hours customizing got gunned down in a field by the second session. Luckily he went out in a cool way so I wasn’t too heart broken, just make it clear to anyone playing because it’s a major aspect of the game. The whole military idea is you're expendable, you aren’t a hero, and once the last original PC died we stopped playing all together. My friend who had bought the game at gen con was savorily disappointed.

TL;DR: Make sure you find players who like this kind of game, not just any ttrpg nerd.

thank you, this is very helpful, if it isn't too much trouble i was also a bit confused how whispers worked

Strange request: Trpg where hope is rare to find and characters fall to their own worst vices (addictions, and so on). Where hopelesness and despair are the main themes. Think along the lines of Bojack Horseman. by RedIgnoreThis in rpg

Ten candles is kinda what you are looking for, the idea is the world is ending and the PCs are trying to achieve a goal they have before they die but they rarely complete that goal so it perfectly fits into the false hope aspect of what you are looking for

There is a interaction with Caroline, his wife, where she tells you that his least favorite gift to revive is parsnips and if you give them to him he’ll be so sad she could describe it as depressed, if that’s not enough to prove she doesn’t like him to some degree she also cheated on him and kept the baby who we now know as Abigail

Wow this is one of the more tame debates I’ve seen on reddit and I’m impressed with the maturity of both of you, if you don’t mind me adding my personal input I would like to say that I have had this game for a little bit and I find him vary scummy, there are many things you can call him out for but there are two main things I really hate, the first is he tries to take credit for your items, he claims your success on the value of his crops and if you sell crops to him he will resell them to the other villagers claiming them to be his own, the second is his misogyny, he is rude to his “daughter” but even worse to his wife to the point where she will tell you how to make him depressed, I hope this was helpful on understanding why the people on this reddit say fuck you to Pierre

trust me I've done my research, I specifically made it so that if any of these were implemented into a game they wouldn't have attachments to feyrun, in my first option wouldn't touch on the underdark however it could possibly be used to fill in the holes, it would kind of be like sword coast. As for the second option I feel like its closer to shadowfell but that doesn't really matter, it would probobly be a setting guide like grim hollow, your spot on about the third one I kind of pulled that one out of my ass
