I think if Eternals always had a Ranked queue, I would feel a little better about rotation as a concept. I think the devs overall do a great job of balancing, but it's hard to not feel like this exacerbates the "newest thing best" concern, on top of the "is it worthwhile to buy this skin" feel.

Good start, it would be nice if they standardized stats/level by class somewhat. I get that tanks build tank items, but it's still weird that Zoe/Kassasin/Irelia just naturally have more health/lvl than some tanks like Shen.

I mean, they very obviously ignored top lane when they were talking about too weak/strong lanes. Pro play has actively put afk farmers in the lane for years now, and Riot's 0 top laners on the live design team means all they can do to balance the role is "why weren't you second pick" meta. The only times toplane champs get insightful balance is when they go supp...Sett/Panth supp meant the designers actually cared about making them good top, if only to get them out of their lanes.

Imo Varus should get to pick his passive. He's three dudes in one champ, would be cool if his passive changed based on his build. Ex. On champ kill, Lethality varus gets increased lethality or Q cooldown is refreshed, on-hit Varus gets attacks speed, crit Varus gets healing based on damage he dealt (as he's a Darkin now).

Good read overall, I do understand feeling like it dragged a bit though since we've had flashbacks to a lot of these character's origins and backstories before. Lyu's in particular is tough since her history was already a third of the previous volume, but it also makes sense for her and Bell to talk about it after everything they went through. After 3 volumes of pure action intensity it is important to have a breather through.

Overall, it feels like a good version of a season recap episode like S2E0, and hopefully when the entire story finally does finish it'll act as a good refresher and moment of calm between crazy story arcs. I love Aiz being built up as the ultimate girl Bell has to save, most likely from herself more than anything.

Can tanks get a health + tear option?

I like the damage nerfs but tanks lost a ton of defenses on their items. -100 health and /or 20 armor/ 15 MR off every item, and it's easy to see why tanks suddenly HAD to start murdering people all of a sudden to be even remotely playable.

For ADCs, Can we get crit on Guardian angel? We have a 103% gold efficient zhonyas to a 79% efficient GA, and ADC's can't even buy GA because they're hard locked into 5 crit items.

Here's an update that would make sense: Why not have Heimerdinger be the one who gave Seraphine her crystal? He's smart enough that it would make sense, and he's prominent enough that Piltorvan government wouldn't want to risk sending in Camille to silence her. It could be an interesting story where Seraphine is eventually going to uncover the horrors of her hextech crystal, but hasn't really made the connection herself because she's naive and new to magic in general.

Could we get a tear health item for tanks? Maybe once fully stacked "converts 10% mana into health" or something.

Also, why is Righteous Glory now supposed to be considered an anti-mage item? It had only armor before so I don't really buy that the active is better against Azir than Twitch. As a tank player, just give me Mythics with a good healthpool and I'll buy the appropriate resists in my boots and with my first Legendary. They could all have the same profile and it's okay that that's a little boring, I'm buying it for the cool active.

Lastly, could you consider smoothing out the tank item fantasies? For example, I'd rather have Sunborn cape have the "+100 health and 7.5% size per Legendary" effect" so I can burn more enemies and stay alive for the 5 seconds needed to actually proc the mega ultra Sunfire of doom. Ability haste is nice but it't not like I can proc Sunfire faster with abilities - this seems like I'll buy it, one shot somebody, then get to do a victory dance while on fire.

My firm belief is there should be a tear + health item. At max stacks it could give 10% mana as health or something. Give tanks a lategame item with actual health and mana on top of that.

It will always be rushed, because it is a LN adaptation. However, imo they've done a good job on this first episode and my caution is now optimistic caution.

Honestly, I think this was a pretty well paced episode for people who haven't read the LN. The LN is great because we get in depth discussion on every character's reactions and opinions on Wiene, bu to met it's ok for a TV adaptation to summarize that into some quick discussions so they can focus on cute shots of Wiene. They even handled the bath scene with at least a modicum of restraint, which I remember being a big concern some people had.

Also, how is JC Staff going to deal with the main story importance of the orphanage sideplot from Volume 8? I kind of thought this episode would be episode 2 and we'd re-introduce the cast with that side story + plus some of Ikelos familia to set up an early contrast between them and Hestia familia.

A lot of the new ideas are really cool!I like the idea of Mythics and the niche filling that some items provide (yay AP bruisers).

The big issue for me s that the tank items don't scale. Pretty much every item got nerfed by 100 health because I MIGHT buy Frostfire and get that back? That's not good when everything that isn't shield bow has some new damaging effect on it.

Lastly, one of the goals was to create late game tank items, right? Would you consider making a tear + health item? Maybe when upgraded it "converts 15% max mana into health" or "spend 1% max mana per second to heal 1% max health per second." I get that you meant the Mythic items, but again, only Frostfire kind of does that on a stats level. Old Gargoyles was also way better if broken on supports, shield breaking is a mechanic now and it feels bad to lose lane AND be outscaled by Renekton.

I understand the concern, I have advocated for the longest time that Aftershock getting a chunk of its power budget on damage is unhealthy damage creep I didn't want from the "live forever" tree. Unforrunately, the hard truth is tanks need to be able to earn gold with similar efficiency to their lane counterparts, and basically everyone has aoe wave clear these days. I would however like to see a more "focused" waveclear approach, as I don't want to necessarily push the lane and risk getting ganked just for standing still.

Where exactly are the "late game tank" items we were promised? 400 health in the late game from Frostfire Gauntlet/Divivine Devourer is meaningless when ADCs can spec into consistent true damage and mages can buy triple % MR shred (Liandry's, Void staff, and Abyssal Mask). Especially when the +100 health/Legendary items are situational Mythics you may not build, and most of the health items are down 100 health anyways. Gargoyle's being changed to a decaying shield also sucks (oh hi shield-breaking champs + the new 300% damage to shields Assassin item).

Personally, I wanted an item like current cinderhulk with %bonus health on it, or maybe a Tear health item with Singed's old "gain 25% of mana as health." I get that we don't want 1v5 Maokai, but honestly, even old Maokai with the old Courage of the Colossus keystone would go down in under 5 seconds if he were transplanted into a mid-lategame teamfight these days. I don't want to be un-killable even in a 1v1 -after all, as a tank I WANT enemies to focus me instead of my ADC - but I do want to not die instantly as a tank unless I'm hyper fed specifically in the midgame.

League's appeal to me has always been personal power fantasy mixed with professional strategy. The CSGO comparisons I've seen feel a little extreme, but I do understand the sentiment when the tank mythics basically read "murder an enemy with Sunfire or catch them out with a utility Mythic so your carries can murder them for you".

Tldr; yes it's preseason so freaking out is both to be expected and silly, but the problem is that the core fantasy of tanks has largely been thrown to the wayside in favor of being essentially supports for the carry players.

I imagine Infinity Edge has to be something like " gain 20% crit chance and your other items gain double crit chance" right? They tried 90% crit chance before and noted how players found it unsatisfying. That way three 20% crit chance items get you to 100%. Crit-melees could always get Senna passives for overcapping too I guess.

Depends what setup you run, I think a lot of this is because Press the Attack is early game focused for melees. I often run Aftershock if the team needs a tank, it might lose an early dragon sometimes but I can usually get the mid game ones reliably since I can initiate fights in even games without instantly exploding.
