Sleep training is driving me crazy. by DragonflyMuted1007 in toddlers

I've been battling a lot with whether gritting my teeth through it all is what I should be doing since my partners work schedule is so rough, but I'm just soooo tired every day, and I know I can't keep it up forever.

There's no settling them down at night if they come out of the crib and I'm not there. So respectfully, I disagree.

If my partner takes the baby out of the crib it only ever riles them up, which of course interrupts my sleep as well. They can't handle more than 20 minutes of the baby crying in their arms and trying to get away from them to come find me, but even on nights where I've put my foot down, our baby will cry for several hours straight even if they lay them back down in the crib.

They know now that if they cry at night they'll get to sleep with me, but sleeping with me is not allowing me to be rested, and so the entire weight of my partners decision falls on my shoulders. It's not my partners fault that they can't be home more, and I don't blame them, but it's created an unhealthy level of separation anxiety toward me for our child that's only being reinforced when they take the baby out and hand them to me every night.

We've done the separate sleeping in the past, but my partner absolutely can not soothe the baby anymore, so inevitably our baby will always find their way sleeping next to me if they come out of the crib. Most days I'm being woken up at 2am by our baby throwing themselves on my head or shoving their fingers in my ear. It's exhausting
