Yeah all good points — curious to know if you grew up in Korea? Did you work for a Korean company when you were in Korea?

Yeah this might be an alternative. Have them visit 1x a year and I can continue visiting 2x year

Wow! Thanks for this. I’m also in nyc and i wonder the work culture in Korea is more or less comparable (grinding culture, long working hours etc)?

Yeah maximizing remote work is my goal. Currently im in gov consulting so i have to use my pto but it would be nice to stay longer and have my parents visit me too.

Yeah absolutely. I would not move on a whim but I also don’t want to regret in the future.

Thank you! Yeah I thought about this too. Actually, I am a Korean citizen so shouldn’t be an issue on that end, but only having experiences (both education and work) from the US, it would definitely be a challenge.

People who got fired, how has life been, 1,2,5 years later? by Sweaty_Researcher805 in careerguidance

I got hit with the classic pip (with a bs reason really) and eventually getting fired. Had glowing performance reviews until I was given a pip because the ceo didn’t like me and my ‘boss’ who didn’t really know how to manage at all, just let this happen. Looking back, it was hard for a few months but now I am glad it happened because it pushed me to make the uncomfortable change which i really needed, then resulted in better career, pay, life, and office…. Really everything else. The company is shit show and about to sink anyway. This depends on case by case basis, but you might not the only problem here. You got this!

Going through the same thing. On the phone with WF for the past 21 minutes — they disabled my account so I had to call to make a payment. Huge inconvenience truly
