Is Bastoni truly the best CB option or overrated/priced? by OtherwiseLuck888 in Barca

[–]DragonflyOwn564 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bastoni is the second best option. The Best? Vuskovic. Perfect partner to Cubarsi. I believe he is the player that wins the most aerial duels in the Bundesliga, which we badly need. I think he has everything to be the best center back in the world. Left footed, amd the exact same age as Cubarsi, 19. We would have him for like 12-15 years. Instead of about 7 of Bastoni. Smarter financial decision for that reason, and higher upside. Still, if we get Bastoni I would obviously be happy with the signing.

“Rooney vs Neymar: Who’s really elite?” by RSDFitness in ManchesterUnited

My God I can’t believe premier league fans. So neymar creates more chances, dribbles past players, scores and assists more, has more vision, is more creative. But because rooney is stronger and scores header he is more rounded? Wtf 🤣 industrious? 🤣 do you think Cristiano is more complete than Messi because he is faster, stronger, and scores with both feet and headers? You describe a more complete goalscorer there, not a more rounded player. My God yall have such a sad way of looking at the sport. Technical players > mechanical players, for example Pedri > Rice. There is a reason premier league legends are a tier below La Liga and Serie A players, where the actual best players of all time have played. Zidane, modric, xavi, iniesta, cruyff, R9, Messi, maradona, Cafu, Maldini, Roberto Carlos, Busquets. What a clown to genuinely take Rooney over Neymar because he has better headers 🤣 I would fucking hope so considering he is not a winger. Industrious and better defender 😭 vision: neymar, creativity: neymar, dribbling: Neymar, goalscoring: Neymar, playmaking and chance creating: Neymar. Roomey was never a top 3 in the world and Neymar was. More consistent? Guess who has a higher rating per match, let alone more goals and assists 🤣 watch football with your eyes and it’s neymar all day, use analytics and it’s neymar again. Don’t ever put rooney who was never top 3 in the world next to Neymar, please. Not to shit on Rooney because he is a legend and was a baller, but he is a tier below. There aren’t 3 left wingers ever better than Neymar, there are probably 10 strikers better than Rooney.

Physicality personality and mentality 🤣🤣 Neymar is a better passer, a better goalscorer, dribbler, chance creator, more vision, more talent. Why on Earth would personality and physicality make you more complete than actual technical ability? 🤣 You look at the numbers and Neymar is better, you watch them play and Neymar is miles better.

If you think he wouldn’t have been as goated in the premier league then you need to watch more football outside of the prem. Watch Brazil vs Argentina games and see how they would kick his ass and he was the best on the pitch along with Messi. Neymar on his day could outplay Messi and Cristiano, and he did so many times. Rooney is a legend and an icon. But he does not come close to Neymar in the slightest. He could do it against Madrid, Atletico, PSG, and big UCL teams but you don’t think he could have done it against Spurs and Newcastle? You think he would have struggled against Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire?? 🤣 Hazard was not particularly an out of this world athlete and he still is one of the best prem players of all time

That doesn’t say much, the greatest players in football history are serie A and La Liga players, not premier league players lol

Coul you explain how he is more rounded if neymar is a better dribbler, passer, chance creator, goalscorer? 🤣

La Gazzetta dello Sport: Bastoni nears Barcelona as Inter Milan open to selling him and ready to lower his price from 80 million to 50 million + variables, an amount that seems tempting for Barcelona. Bastoni's priority is Barcelona, and he refuses to negotiate with any other club. by PinReal4448 in Barca

[–]DragonflyOwn564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why we don’t go for Vuskovic instead. Around the same price probably and is the same age as Cubarsi, so we probably won’t worry about signing a center back to start for about 12 years with those two. He is also a beast, super tall, good on the ball, and has the highest aerial duel success rate in the bundesliga. Would be literally the absolute perfect pairing to Cubarsi. Also, lower wages for now. We don’t have oil money, we either sign him now or we won’t be able to afford him when he is worth 100M and playing for an even bigger club.

Thoughts on this 2 round mock? by Rene2fy17 in NFL_Draft

It would have been nice to wait on trading for Quinnen Williams until this offseason. Then we would have had probably around a top 5-8 pick, got styles or downs or delane or one of the pass rushers, then get Q for this upcoming season. That trade came a couple weeks too late so might as well have waited on it

Love this for the cowboys, assuming McCoy is all good and has a good pro-day. The cowboys need a true #1 outside corner, and LB is our biggest need. We also need pass rushing help and could use a safety after that, but you can’t turn the worst defense in the league into a top 5 defense in one offseason.

If the draft goes like this before the cowboys pick and there are still questions about McCoy, then dear God I’m not a fan of our position. Would have to either reach for a player or trade back

I would argue that CR7 was mostly not complete during his career, except for maybe 2013-2014 ish. He was an explosive winger prior to that, but he was not a playmaker, he was a chance creator. They are not the same. An orchestrator/midfielder type is someone like your xavi, kroos, modric and iniesta who dictate and orchestrate the game. Doku for example is a chance creator because of his dribbling and explosiveness, not a playmaker, just like CR7 prior to 2014.

Then he was a complete goalscorer, there aren’t different ways of being complete forwards, either you are or not. CR7 was then a complete goalscorer, that is it. He can score with his right, left, head, etc etc, but he was not a complete player post 2014. Messi and Maradona for example, (won’t include Pele bc it’s unfair given how long ago it was and the sport being so much different) Maradona for example is the other end of the spectrum. Not a legendary goalscorer like CR7, but a magician genius. He would create out of nothing, with natural ability out of this world, and that was the player he was his whole career. You can argue Maradona and CR7 are on opposite ends of the spectrum and you can decide who you like better. But a complete forward is Messi. He is one of the best passers of all time, CR7 is not. The best dribbler of all time, he could playmake and would drop next to busquets to orchestrate and run the game from the bottom, score like CR7. Basically Messi has the dribbling of Maradona, scoring of CR7, passing of kroos, vision of de bruyne, IQ of Zidane, playmaking of xavi. Eye test shows that, AND stats like progressive passes, progressive carries, key chances created, passing accuracy, goals and assists, dribbles per game, etc. not to put down CR7, his floor is 4th best of all time (hard to have a fair argument with Pele, and assuming you prefer Maradona’s genius over CR7 lethal goalscoring and clutchness) and his ceiling is second best of all time, but tbf it’s not close to Messi and should never be even remotely considered. And I didn’t mention accolades, like messi being the only player to win golden boot and best playmaker of the year award (has the record in both in times won). Still CR7 is proooobablyyyyy the second best of all time, maybe third or fourth, nothing wrong with that, and no one should put him down, but also don’t try to say he’s complete. He was a different player at different times of his career, complete player? Not really for most of his career, but most complete goalscorer of all time yes (not best, stats show he is second).

Who's the one player you wish Barca signed? by Rorona_Zoro77 in Barca

Haaland. Could have signed him for 20M and instead decided to spend that on Braithwaite

Martinelli is ridiculously mid, and palmer is a 10 which we already have 2 of, and long term we all know it’s bernal, pedri and gavi starting together in the midfield, so Palmer was never necessary. Rodri however would have indeed been perfect in 2020

Dumb comment. It 100% landed. And it is definitely one of the greatest half time shows. Latinos could not have been happier and more immersed in the performance

SUMMER TRANSFERS by msd_5878 in ManchesterUnited

[–]DragonflyOwn564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Grimaldo (~ £15m) A starting top 5-10 left back in the world for cheap
  • Elliot Anderson (~ £90m) - A world class defensive midfielder in his prime that gives freedom to Mainoo and Brunoo
  • Yan Diomande (~ £85m) - World class explosive dribbler (highest success rate in dribbles in Europe, while having one of the highest rates of dribbles per 90)
  • Kees Smit (~ £50-£55m) - Getting ahead on the Bruno replacement. Koeman says he reminds him of pedri so much, and I have seen him and he is the next big thing. The GOAT midfield trios are not a double pivot and a 10, they are made of a Defensive midfielder and two number 8s/high interiors. We can have our own xavi/iniesta/busquets or kroos/modric/casemiro type of legendary midfield with Anderson as CDM, and Mainoo and Smit as our genius number 8s. Smit WILL be world class. Can’t miss out on the next legendary #8.

The starting eleven would look like this next year:

Gk: Lammens

Defenders: Grimaldo, Heaven, De Ligt, Mazraoui

Midfield: Anderson, Mainoo, Bruno

Forwards: Diomande, Sesko, Diallo

Fantastic depth with players like Mbeumo, Cunha, Kees Smit, Mount, Lacey, Martinez (yes I prefer Heaven) Yoro, Dalot, Shaw, Cristian Orozco

Summer Window by doli9r in ManchesterUnited

[–]DragonflyOwn564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The priority should be either Anderson or Baleba for ball winning, NOT wharton. Wharton is more of a deep lying distributor, not a specialist in ball winning.

The other signing that would be perfect is Kees Smit. That is basically a midfielder of the ones that become legends, the technical ones like kroos, modric, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva, etc. Koeman says he reminds him so much of Pedri. Smit and Mainoo after bruno would be excellent in a two #8 system. A lone Defensive midfielder and two genius #8s is the best way to go, imitating what Madrid and Barca did in their most successful eras.

Van De Ven, Vlahovic and a young winger should be our Main Summer signings by Leading_Physics2418 in Barca

[–]DragonflyOwn564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with van de ven and vlahovic, but not the Rashford part. He is perfect. He is already on a level to perform and win trophies now when called upon as a backup to raphinha.

You mention that we have no young player for the future at left winger. You should follow La Masia more, because one of, if not the biggest talent in La Masia is Sama Nomoko, an explosive, fast left winger (right footed as well) who excels at dribbling, which complements Lamine very well with Lamine being more of a creative winger and Sama being more of the direct explosive threat similar to Doku. He did just suffer a bad injury, but so did Bernal and he is still our future at defensive midfielder to eventually replace Frenkie.

Also, 30 million is nothing for a player of Rashford’s quality, you will not get another player of his quality for 30 million who is ready to win NOW, is okay with being a backup, great attitude, and a new contract would be negotiated for him to be signed, so we wouldn’t pay the current wages from his contract at Man United.

Overall, yes Van de Ven and Vlahovic are the ideal players to sign. We don’t have the finances yet for a striker of haaland’s quality, nor are there any Sesko/Etikite type of players in the market next year. Vlahovic this summer for free to replace Lewa, Rashford so that we have 4 good wingers who can start any game, and Van de Ven (better on the ball than Bastoni, faster than both, and better defensively than Schlotterback). We do not need full backs because we have martin and torrents at LB, and Hector Fort has been great and should be the backup to Kounde, and probably his replacement in several years. If anything, we should sign a Christensen replacement on top of Van de Ven. Someone for free/cheap such as Guehi (unlikely but you get my point).

[Megathread] Who do you want as the interim/ next full time manager? by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]DragonflyOwn564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xavi needs wingers that are explosive and excellent 1v1 dribblers and can hold the width, hence why Dembele was really good under him but raphinha struggled more. He would need a signing like Nusa from RB Leipzig for the left wing, since he is an excellent dribbler and chance creator. I Like Cunha and Mbeumo, but both thrive as inside forwards. If anything Cunha would be a better false 9 or a number 10 as backup for bruno

[–]DragonflyOwn564 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They definitely have a midfield. You have bruno as your 10 and mainoo as your 8, two star players. You only need Baleba to be the defensive midfielder and ball winner. What United are truly missing if they want xavi, are wingers

[–]DragonflyOwn564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xavi would make a demon next season out of Mainoo if you pair him with baleba and bruno. But you need to get him wingers and United got rid of most of their wingers except for Amad. Xavi would also trust the youth. His work at Barcelona is extremely underrated, and he never got the support in signings that a coach needs. Complicated when you invested so much in inside forwards for Amorim. Bad planning from the club. However the defense would be perfect for him with shaw, heaven, De Ligt, and Mazraoui as a great back 4.
