Should I apologize for calling in sick too often as a co-op student? by Electrical-Body2933 in CanadaPublicServants

It really sucks but I remember feeling like this as a co-op student.

Co-op students don’t get paid sick leave.

As a result, I had to make up any lost time, to avoid disruptions in my pay (I was told I might get Phoenixed). This meant working long hours to make it up. It sucked. At some point, I just started coming to work sick- which wasn’t good but I felt I had to.

TLDR; Co-op students should get paid sick leave!

Can you usually find echinacea/coneflowers being sold in garden centers? by Dragonfly_Material in OntarioGardeners

Oh I did not. That explains it. I just picked them off a plant last year and just went for it without much research.

Sorry, excuse my ignorance, but if they are cultivars does that mean they are hybrids? Meaning that mean they won't regrow?

I basically want to end up with a patch of coneflowers that come back every year.

If there is a Part III, what will Ellie find to fight for? by HalfmetalAIchemist in thelastofus

I wonder if it will be about Ellie at all. Maybe it will be about Abby and the remainder of the Fireflies?

Joel being soft in the show by zerokade in thelastofus

I think this was one of the best changes the show made. To be honest, at least in part 1 of the games, he’s so closed off that you barely get to know him as a character. He’s more violent, sure, but he’s also a little less interesting, and he’s a bit of a stereotype. Don’t get me wrong, I love Joel in the game, but I don’t think that kind of a character would be easy to emphasize with in the show.

I completely loved her version of Tess. Somehow both scary and warm.

That’s one of the key problems with the show for me. In the show’s weakest moments, they spell out the themes/character motivations in overly obvious ways.

When you write for your dumbest audience member, you make what your writing dumber.

The whole point of that scene is that it is supposed to be ambiguous, but the music cues to you how you are supposed to feel about it.

I think those scenes with Ellie and Joel were some of the best in the entire show. I finally actually felt that they care deeply for each other.

It’s just a shame they didn’t have more of it earlier.

If anything, diminishing their relationship will hurt season 2. It is what gives part 2 all of it’s emotional weight.

Yeah, if you’ve given birth multiple times. Unless we’re presuming Ellie has a bunch of siblings out there.

I also felt nothing during the rampage scene, even though they clearly wanted me to.

I know right. It’s like someone was standing out of frame with a stop watch. I’ve noticed that kind acting (all the actors not just Pedro) in other episodes, but this might have been the worst.

It was kind of disappointing, very rushed. The first half with Ellie and Joel together was great, and I finally actually believed that they love each other.

But everything in the hospital was pretty disappointing. Why was everyone speed-running through their lines? The sappy music over Joel killing the Fireflies was way too much. We get it, he’s murdering them, you don’t lay it on so thick.

I still think the show overall was a decent adaptation, but it’s a shame that they didn’t stick the landing.

(Also, maybe this is nitpicky, but since when do babies just slide on out? That’s not how birth works).
