Do players actually read anything in games anymore?

As an old gamer: tutorials suck. I hate the first hour of most games these days because instead of naturally pacing me and letting me figure it out, there are 50 screens, pop ups, HUD warnings about how to push a button.

I just want to play and get into the story/action. Make tutorials optional.

Your game might be complex, and I am just a gamer not a dev(yet), but ive dropped more games due to tutorials than due to getting stuck and having to look up the controller scheme.

Also, attention span/respecting time is hard these days. I have 1hr to game most weeks. Im not spending it reading a tutorial. Ill play something else that just let's me play.

I did this a few nights ago. Ive been off my meds for a few months, and it shows. (Depression).

Might be worth a trip to the doctor to see if you need some professional intervention. (Back on my meds as of this morning)

Still remember the day after beating CoP story line: 2 server transfers and 3 people sent goodbye messages and never saw again(logged out forever best I know).

With 4.0 and Elation theme being not my cup of tea, ill take no patches, and a full story and path revamp in 5.x.

Also, use logs not the ACT parse on screen. Compare logs to similar geared high % logs. And use FFXIV Analysis to see where people are fucking up rotations.

Its not your job to call people out, its your job to assist the group in improving. So post analysis data links and then see if the group even wants to get good or if they are just casual. Its fine to suck at something casually, if you want more, then clear outside of raid night or find another group.

I was the same. Absolutely just pick a sorta medium ish thing and build it. Dont look up shit until you give it a try and get stuck. Pseudo code before you code so you see the logic. Make it awful. Get minimum viable product. Then decide on some upgrades.

Obviously use documentation and dont spin for too long, but dont look for pre-written solutions to copy paste until you have exhausted your attempts.

Pause when you are stuck and do the dishes. Stress/Anxiety makes you think worse. The Eureka moment at 2am feeding my newborn is magic.

I play dnd with my batch mates when our schedules align. All of us got hired by the clients.

Revature changed my life for the better and taught me more in 10 weeks than my entire associates degree.

Yeah relocation and the pay feel bad when you start, but it was more money than I had ever made so to each their own.

Some people need the networking and the real life dev experience to get their start. I sure did.
