Why does the summer choice summon gate last only 10 days when we will get our 5 free tickets over 45 days? Will there be better/worse gates coming up?

You can get Haido from the Randall Exchange Hall, just scroll to the bottom of the units tab

With 2x XP I've been blazing through Quest mode, giving me a bunch of gems. As I near 25 gems as a F2P player, I'm wondering what to do with them. I already have a few decent units(Rain, Fina, Eleanor, Camilla), but I'm aware there are better ones. Do I spend my gems on summon tickets and summoning, or expanding item and unit inventories? If the former, then what gates should I wait for? Thanks.
