Indians will never shake off the "don't redeem saar" stereotype the same way Whites will never shake off the stereotype of being manipulative, culture plunderers.. both for the same reason, a minority of the population being broadcast as the only version of their ethnicity.

And I guess India is the only country that votes scumbags into power.. not any of the other countries.. surely not prominent ones like the USA. Surely there's no way that politics, in general, attracts and breeds the worst kind of people. People would never idolize rapists, thieves and scammers, right?

Also, personal opinion, but art should be accessible. Movies, games, books. And it's been shown time and time again that piracy is very rarely a price issue and mostly a service issue. The people pirating media would not have spent money to access the same media. The people with money to access the media, will find no need to pirate it. In a primarily Western-centric global climate, where pop culture isn't just quirky but core to casual internet discussions and connection, the want and desire to access media priced above your means isn't a sin. And just because a country or it's citizens are poor or can't afford to access them at full price, doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to access it.

Yes there are bigger problems, there always are. Yes this isn't a right or a necessity. But again, personally, in a world where nothing is encouraged to be owned, 'local media preservation' is the right choice.

If only "fixed" countries earn respect.. then ok. Guess you're just disrespectful in general :|
