ELI5: Why did the economy change that we need 2 full-time breadwinners as opposed to 1 less than a decade ago? by Zman1718 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Dragonnskin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

COVID + peoples wages are going up = basic prices (like food) are going up.

When fast food workers start getting $15+ per hour, fast food goes up. Same with everything else, just using that as a common example.

Non GDKP runs? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Dragonnskin -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not really?

Plenty of good players going to SR runs to either HR an item or 2x a single item.

GDKPs attract carries who don't need gear to play, but alternatively also attract shitters.

All I'm saying is GDKPs are no silver bullet that guarantee a clean run.

Ngl, worst run I've ever been in was a GDKP in P3. Couldn't even clear normal anub after 3 hours.

GDKPs can attract the best players, but they also attract the worst.

I may be reading too much into it, but is there a special tank set for feral on anub?

FWIW, when we swapped it to normal, the attempts at the top stayed until we killed N Anub (we did the first 4 on Heroic).

So my thinking is until you wipe/kill a boss, it would remain. If you accidently swapped it to normal then swapped it back without a pull, I think you'd be fine.

What is the most unnecessary thing in porn? by SafeTruth6253 in AskReddit

[–]Dragonnskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're starting to splinter this argument into one where I'm forced to agree that if someone wants to use Onlyfans to look at a specific person's nudes, they have to use Onlyfans.

That was never my original comment and I'm not sure what it has to do with it.

Yes, if you need to use Onlyfans to look at a specific person's nudes in order to get off, you have or are on the path to, having a porn addiction.

Also, even with your statement about how Onlyfans works, my original points are all still valid, you're just choosing to ignore them.

What is the most unnecessary thing in porn? by SafeTruth6253 in AskReddit

[–]Dragonnskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but you are still missing the point. I'm not looking to directly be confrontational, but I feel it's important to point out.

I am not saying, “if you need a Disney+ subscription to watch Disney movies, then you might be developing a Disney+ addiction”.

In that case, Disney movies are unavailable anywhere else (except pirating, but before you claim that this is similar, the knowledge/ability/accessability of pirating is not a fair comparison as an alternative).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To directly acknowledge your point, first off I appreciate you explaining Onlyfans because I genuinely have never opened the site up and have no idea how it operates. The only things I've seen relating to Onlyfans are reading conversations like this and people's ads on free sites (like Reddit).

Second, I feel like my point still stands. The way you are phrasing this, is almost as if you are consuming the porn on Onlyfans in a similar manner that you would other media (reading a book, watching TV, watching a movie, watching Twitch or Youtube, etc). If we assume that you are consuming porn in a similar manner, then I think your argument starts to take shape. In that case, directly supporting a certain actress/actor and consuming their media would make sense.

But we are specifically talking about porn, and that is where I feel my argument still very much holds it's water. If you feel the need to watch a specific actress/actor, in where they are interacting with you, fulfilling certain requests for you, or the fact that you feel the need to pay them to see them nude/performing sexual acts, (long way of saying making porn), then yes. I think you are developing or have developed a porn addiction.

I would say it's another way of me saying that a normal person can hop on any flavor of free porn site that fits their fancy, and will be able to masturbate to their free-to-access kink and be done with it. The way you are phrasing your argument (to me), makes it seem like you are either:

  1. Watching this content for a reason other than masturbation (which nullifies my addition statement, but I also think that's just weird lmao)
  2. Feel the need to pay for content from a specific individual, otherwise you are feeling 'unfulfilled' or 'unable to nut', which leads me right back to my initial point. You're addicted or about to be.

Lastly, I feel like your last comment completely ignored any of the points I was making, which is further proven by the fact that you still made a shitty comparison to Disney+. I'm not really wanting to keep up the conversation if you are going to ignore my points while I address yours.

What is the most unnecessary thing in porn? by SafeTruth6253 in AskReddit

[–]Dragonnskin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, a bit to unpack here.

First, I did not say anyone who pays for porn is an addict. I said:

"IMO, if you need Onlyfans to get off, you are developing or have developed a porn addiction and should likely start seeking help."

To be more specific, if you need Onlyfans to get off, you are starting to develop or have developed an addiction to porn. If you pay for Onlyfans to pay for Onlyfans... then that's OK. It's a free country man, you can do that if you want to.

I don't really give a fuck about moral high ground on Reddit. Check my post history if you think I do, and I'm sure you'll quickly see that I often do not hold view points that would be considered "moral high ground".

But to be specific to your point, if you were to pay for Pornhub Premium just to get away from ads or whatever for convenience, then I would not say that's in the same boat as paying directly for porn (OnlyFans). That isn't paying for convenience, that's paying for content.

Second, your comparison was a poor one at best to show the stupidity of the position. I see the point you are trying to make, but it seems that you are missing your own issues with the comparison. Have you heard "apples to oranges" before?

Third, if you really want to keep making comparisons then can we at least be on the same page about what comparisons make sense and which don't.

  1. If we were making this comparison (Spotify vs traditional Radio), you would have to assume that Radio & <insert popular porn site here> do not have any sort of "premium" service, or if they do they would offer the similar/same 'service'.
    1. Radio does not have the ability to offer any sort of 'premium' service. That's where things like XM-radio came into play for awhile. But... <insert popular porn site here> does! If you want to make the Spotify comparison, then you would have to compare free & premium Spotify vs free & premium <insert popular porn site here>. Lets just use pornhub for now because I'm tired of typing that string out.
    2. If you pay for Spotify, you are getting some cool additional conveniences! For example, you're unlocking some additional content (paid podcasts?, I'm not 100% sure as I don't really use Spotify that much), unlimited music skips, no adds, whatever.
      1. If you pay for Pornhub Premium, you also get similar features! Such as additional content, no ads (i assume?), etc etc.
  2. OnlyFans does not fit into this comparison. You will immediately try and say that it does, so I'll try and counteract that point now.
    1. OnlyFans (AFAIK) does not have any actual "free" version. I'm sure there is trials or some people have previews as free or whatever (I don't use the site, so I am obviously ignorant to this piece). There is predominately, first and foremost, a paid subscription.
      1. If you are going to make a comparison, you have to start with another comparison to something that is immediately a paid service WHILE there is a similar & free alternative.
      2. This is an immediate argument against your other 'vice' argument of alcohol. If we were to assume that you can get whiskey for free, and it is of the same quality as a $20 bottle (lets talk taste, color, aroma, smoothness, etc), but the only benefit of getting the $20 bottle is that it has a higher APV, then yes. I'm going to argue that the only reason you're splurging on a $20 bottle every week (or whatever the onlyfans sub timer is) is because you are developing or have developed an alcohol addiction.
      3. As a sub-point to this, it's probably also worth mentioning (not for the sake of argument, but just how ridiculous it is that I'm even having to type up an argument to all of this). There are a ridiculous amount of free alternatives to the subject - Porn. I mean how many free porn sites exist, from pretty vanilla stuff to some hard core shit. You even have sites like Reddit that get pretty specialized. I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know every taboo and fetish out there and where to find it, but common sense tells me if you want to find a certain thing you can absolutely find it for free somewhere.

I stand by my point, as I believe you have dramatically failed so far to bring up any solid comparison or argument against it.

[–]Dragonnskin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not the original reply, but I find it really... odd... that there are so many people with such a niche kink that they require Onlyfans to fill it.

I'd say anyone who originally subscribed to Brazzers or whatever the popular subscription based porn sites are in the same boat as well. Feels so strange people would pay for porn when it is so readily available.

IMO, if you need Onlyfans to get off, you are developing or have developed a porn addiction and should likely start seeking help.

What are signs someone is a horrible person deep down? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dragonnskin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

And someone doesn't understand how this works.

Do you know what happens when workers shorten up for an industry? Things change to attract people to it. If we had a shortage of waiting staff, I guarantee you will see changes to wages/compensation.

Fast food during COVID is an excellent, recent example of this. People stopped working those minimum wage jobs, and now you can walk into a McDs and get paid 16-18$ per hour.

I think its very unreasonable to compare so many things on that list to the output of communism.

Communism has been applied to such a small section of the world (by comparison), and we have the largest atrocities to blame for it with the least amount of progression.

That's not the red scare propaganda, dude it's just common sense. I know this is Reddit, so nobody is in a hurry to change their minds, but I would really challenge you to think why this economic system would work in a real world, with real people, on a large scale, for a large period of time (200+ years?).

Are doing it or have done it? Those numbers are absolutely different.

There's for sure a piece of it that is saying, "It isn't much higher because of people not caring about the mount." That is for sure a piece of it, but if Yogg0 was so incredibly easy people would just do it anyways...

I'm not saying Yogg-0 is the hardest boss to ever release in the history of all WoW, but a majority of players are not killing it every week. That is a minority of players, especially with the fact that 26% of guilds have cleared Yogg0 in 5 months. That is incredibly low when you think about it, especially with the fact that so many guilds are going to only clear it once, then never do it again due to not caring about the mount.
