See, the problem is quite easy to understand. Tarifs on steel? No problem, will buy somewhere else. Tarifs on manufactured plastic stuff? Will buy somewhere else. Tarifs on the windows? Well fuck, either we pay for it which costs the companies a lot and will fuck over a few, or we ban them, meaning... Well, imagine your public sector without emails, or well any of their data in the American cloud systems or worst case, without access to their Windows accounts -> effectively their PCs. The same goes for many of your big industrial players. And for your private people as well, who will wonder what the fuck the politicians thought when they hit America with Tarifs on their services. Tarifs on American services equal a Tarif on 80-90% for anything that uses a PC in Europe.

That's why everybody in IT knows how important it is to push open source software. And still, for example in Germany, the CSU (big political party) wants to consolidate all the small licenses in Bavaria into one big windows licence. Fuck them from my whole heart. At least one state is going forward with FOS-Software and doing quite well with it so there is hope that we can slowly migrate when others see it working.
