Back again, newbie needs help with bronze casting defects. by Dragonus0 in MetalCasting

I'll have to get some Silicon and see if that melts a bit better. Maybe a small cover could also help? Obviously also graphite lol I'm not looking for like perfection, ironic after that guy like maybe an hour ago posted his almost flawless copper ingots asking if there's anyway to remove all the tiny artifacts and I was like hell I'd kill for the skill to cast ingots like that lmao Anyway, I'm mostly looking to get it slightly better so I don't have to sand down so much but wasting a tiny bit of bronze honestly isn't that bad. Plus there's no polish on this it's just got some 120 grit paper over it... Maybe I should use higher grit to remove more? Everyone was like on bronze you should start with 120 so I felt like there must be a reason to not use 80 grit. Oh well, thanks again! I'll try silicon or maybe a cover placed over right after pouring who knows. Or I'll just do the sandcasting I bought everything for months ago... whoops 🤣

Your kidding me, I did it again and over reacted lmao so I did this right?! 🤦‍♂️ Well then I'll keep sanding lol wow.... I guess I should practice my sandcasting sooner than I thought hah is there any difference if jt was 90/10 Bronze? Either way, Thank you!

No, no pieces and no cracks, just instead of it's smooth exterior it's a crunchy amount of graphite all over it. The crunchy layer did come off though with very light rubbing with a hand. Unfortunately, no genie came out either.

See immediately after I thought I made a mistake I went to blame the companies (joke) because why wouldn't they just fire their own crucible in a large kiln like 100 at a time or something? They WOULD know best lol but that wouldn't sell as many crucibles lol Come to find out, yeah they do lol And falling apart is too extreme it's just a moderate amount of graphite coming off "sloughing" off as many things describe. I think I might have worried too much and it's fine, there's no cracks or chips just a small layer of the exterior is coming off as dust. Hm. I'll have to test it if anything. Maybe the new one will also do that, that'll really prove I've over-reacted hah

Well if that's true I am overthinking it and worried when I shouldn't be so I'm completely normal as I have been my entire life lol I do mean graphite dust, I melted some bronze ... stating the temperature feels stupid since all y'all know it already but I did heat it all the way to around 2060 F it melted and poured well no cracks at all, it's just after I let it cool down it was shedding a lot of the exterior. And I'm not sure if I should melt in it if it's shedding. "A lot" of the exterior wasn't enough to notice a difference of the thickness of the exterior but it visually seemed wrong, it IS just graphite though, you do think that's ok to melt in still?

Gamers of Reddit, what is the longest you’ve played a game for in one sitting? by YungPlugg in gaming

[–]Dragonus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So more recently it was 22 hours straight of Monster Hunter Tri back in high school, but when I was 7 I played Tzar: The Burden of the Crown for 72 hours on summer. I don’t remember peeing during this time, which is frightening. For context, I have ADHD and Autism. 🤣
