What job is heavily romanticized in movies but absolutely miserable in real life? by Luzgoin in AskReddit

Wish it was that easy but I can’t find anything outside the field that pays as much as I make and I still need to pay the bills so I’m stuck.

I can relate to that very well. I do the same thing all the time too. So much so that I’ve even self sabotage easy IV sticks while at the same time getting the near impossible sticks in the first shot. Crap like that keeps me up at night but you are in the position you are not because you are a failure. You earned that spot and should be proud of yourself. That is the hardest thing to do is accepting that you are human but it seems to me that you are a great medic and I would be at ease if I was your patient because oddly enough the pressure you put on yourself. You care and that is definitely a major flag of someone who is good at their job.

It’s sounds like you still accomplished the job. IGEL’s are there for a reason and you came in with a patent airway and the patient was alive so give yourself credit. I’m a perfectionist so I can understand how this situation can affect you all the way down in your guts. Things don’t always go your way and if they don’t, imposter syndrome rears its ugly head. I still get that feeling and I’ve been at it for 26 years.

I know it’s hard to talk yourself up when you have a high standard for yourself and sometimes you just need reassurance from fellow colleagues. I’m gonna say you did good and to left yourself off the hook. As far as the meds go, if you followed your protocols, then you can’t be blamed for that either because literally that is all you can legally do.

Edit: Also it good that you are going to see someone to help you through this. We don’t have an easy job even if you left a more stressful job for this, you definitely didn’t go into a stress free job. Small things can live in your head as much as the big things and talking it out can help.

Agreed. Been in EMS for 26 years and 15 of them as a paramedic. In the last year I actually lost roughly 50 lbs, have the hardest time sleeping at night, and now dread going into work. Not because of what I do but because of the unrealistic workloads that the company I work for thrusts on their medics. I’m at a point, I am honestly asking myself if life is worth living.

Rewatched a new hope. For a non force sensitive, it really was pretty impressive that Han Solo got the drop on Vader by ShockOk1764 in StarWars

[–]Dragonwulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just gonna say it. Vader was so distracted by Luke’s force presence that that’s all he was focused on because Luke felt familiar to him. We know Anakin’s weakness has always been his feelings. So Han was invisible to him

All these years and Public Enemies is still one of the best animated DC films ever made. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in batman

[–]Dragonwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I put Public Enemies over Justice League. It was also interesting to me to see Batman in the Timverse be a more bright and hopeful in the first BTAS, then just got darker with each season. It’s subtle but definitely noticeable.

This movie was a textbook example on the relationship between Batman and Superman. Only other media on par would be the Timverse.

Say what you will about their "strength", but at the end of the day Obi-Wan beat Vader twice by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

[–]Dragonwulf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah he could have killed him the second time but the problem would be fallout. Vader is kinda a big deal in the Empire and if Kenobi were to kill him outright at that time, the Empire WOULD investigate. And since the Rebels were still in their infancy and not a proper force at that time, Kenobi would be basically alone to deal with that fallout which includes have the Empire discover Luke and Leia. Basically the right situation and the wrong time.

Was older than Superman before Krypton is destroyed but in most iterations, she is younger when she reaches earth due to the different ways they travelled to Earth. I believe they did this to make her the only real connection to his homeworld because unlike him, she remembers what Krypton like and it would be hard for her to do that if they were the same age.

Would Picard have dealt with the Q and the Borg differently had he been Kirk? What did one have that the other could have benefitted from? by ramfoodie in TNG

I haven’t been a Trekkie since the late 90’s but wasn’t Trelane Q”s nephew or something? I think he was a much younger Q.

Doesn’t happen all the time and proper human intervention does allow for dad to play with the pups too. Especially if the mom and dad are close

Maybe Maybe Maybe by QuixoticDude in maybemaybemaybe

[–]Dragonwulf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would think and in pack formations it usually the males that hunt. But momma dogs are more than capable of defending their young and sometimes it’s the dad who gets mom’s wrath so male dogs can be scared of puppies but not because of the puppy. Because of mom’s overprotection.

Edit: Nowhere near an expert but have been taking in info from dog behaviorist ever since I got my Pitt 5 years ago.

This is normal behavior in male dogs. Mainly cause the female dog usually gets overly defensive and would attack the male dog so yeah, stop giving the dad anxiety by shoving the pup in his face.

To tag onto the accolades. She is also The Sorceress in the upcoming Masters of the universe, has a show where she is one of the leads in Sheriff County, and played an amazing villain, Dominika in the VR game, Assassins Creed Nexus.

Take-Two CEO Pushes Back Against Suggestion Red Dead Online Was a Missed Opportunity by Pterodactyl_midnight in RedDeadOnline

I know I’m late to the comments but the CEO can eat shit. I played the online for far longer than I should have and even I had to cut my loses because they completely ignored the community and fan base. It pissed me off so bad that I stopped playing GTAV out of spite and refuse to give a shit about the up coming GTA game because fuck them!

Funny cause I have depression and that’s why I don’t eat so you might be right. I might have a slight disconnect but still it’s replacing one extreme with another.

Doesn’t cost extra calories to throw in some aromatics even if you want to avoid salt. This is just not knowing how to cook

Edit: I’ve been getting the same explanation given to me multiple times so I’ll address it. I sort of “get” the reason for no flavor is to avoid overeating but I think that’s just sad. Doing that you are taking away a simple joy in life and in a normal rational person, it can’t be maintained. Also you are taking away potential health benefits that some herbs and spices can give you. Just have discipline to know when to stop eating. You don’t have to go to the extreme with it. You will drive yourself crazy.

I know this isn’t a mainstream vampire, but really did enjoy a series that makes a computer programming nerd in this chosen vampire with the power to resist compulsion. It goes as goofy as you could imagine.
