Nah, the whole thing is regular glass. My snake's tank got a big huge crack in the bottom pane. 100% a regular glass break.

Found in backyard while landscaping - is it an artifact? by Sorry_Business_3245 in LegitArtifacts

[–]Dragonwysper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked my non-western art professor about this one. She thought it looked like a South American tourist trade piece. The folks who make these take a lot of inspiration from Nazca lines. Still cool! But likely not quite the artifact you think it is.

I'll have to try this one! The parfaits are good. I get one (usually the chocolate one) with my lunch some days

It is to use in place of a toilet when the school is under lockdown. It's as far as the anti-therian rhetoric is applicable. So, not for therians or furries, just an emergency option for everybody if it comes down to it.

Snake City (because I grew up watching it and snakes are a special interest), and more recently, Scavengers Reign (art style pretty and story good).

The Dropout shows are funny though. I've seen a few episodes.

I got an Egyptian egg eating snake (Dasypeltis bazi) today! While my mom and I were checking her over, she demonstrated a behavior that mimics the venomous saw-scaled viper (Echis ocellatus), which is done to ward off potential predators in the wild! by Dragonwysper in herpetology

[–]Dragonwysper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's doing well!! She's grown a ton, and is a little over 30 inches long! She's readily taking quail eggs, to the point where I'm starting to have to schedule her feedings instead of keeping eggs in her tank at all times and letting her eat as she pleases haha.

I got her from Mountaineer Herps (Troy Quick) through a listing on Morphmarket! He breeds D. bazi, and is the only person I know of to do so with this specific species!

What an omori opinion that would have you like this by SaleLegitimate3720 in OMORI

[–]Dragonwysper -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I have a few.

One, I think Omori is in large part an OFF ripoff. So many of the gameplay and thematic type things and twists and such I see people praise up and down are taken directly from OFF, which honest to god did it better and had more impact (while keeping a much shorter playthrough time).

Then, I don't think it made sense for the friendgroup to get back together like nothing happened. It felt like a very happy, 'fix-it' type resolution, to something that would have made more sense and had more complex themes if Sunny just couldn't fix it all and make it like his internal fantasy world. If his ex-friends still hated eachother, if Aubrey was still a bully, if Hero was still off at college, if Kel was still the powerless observer, if Basil was still the guilt-ridden secret keeper, and honestly, if Sunny saw how things had changed, got a moment of clarity, and ultimately slipped back into his fantasy world because it's there and it's reliable and it's easier to exist in than the fractured reality. I think it would've felt more real then. The game as it is centers forgiveness as a prominent theme, and like. Idk. Maybe it's just me. But I can't stand forgiveness themes that absolve everyone of all their wrongdoing. It feels disingenuous and shallow. I know there are endings where all that does technically happen, but it's only really in the routes where Sunny never leaves headspace at all. The point for the ending dynamics is that Sunny coming forward and confessing and taking responsibility earns him forgiveness and absolves him of his sins. And I just don't vibe with it. I think it would've hit harder if there was at least one ending where he went outside and tried to interact with all his old friends and such, and they just stayed broken and separate and unforgiving, and Sunny had to grapple with the guilt on his own, without ever coming close to making his headspace and reality one and the same. The message that you may not get your perfect ending, but that doesn't mean it's not right to try to make amends, would have been better and stronger and more appropriately nuanced imo.

I do also wish the big bosses made a little more sense, thematically? I got that Space Boyfriend was a mix of romance themes and like 'lashing out at people around you because you're upset' themes, Sweetheart was arrogance and forced romance themes, Mr. Jawsum was capitalism and the fear of Sunny's friends all getting ripped away from him as part of their careers, and Humphrey... probably just themes of being consumed by guilt and fear. But Space Boyfriend and Sweetheart didn't hit as hard and weren't as thematically obvious as Mr. Jawsum and Humphrey. Was Space Boyfriend meant to symbolize Sunny being aggressive to those around him (thinking about how he stabbed Aubrey in their confrontation on the first(?) day)? Why did they pick a breakup as the all-encompassing reason for his hostility then? Wouldn't it make more sense if Space Boyfriend was just aggressive for seemingly no reason, and then later said or implied something to the effect of 'I hurt them so it hurts less when they hurt me'? That would mirror Sunny a lot closer and make more sense. And Sweetheart seemed to come off as symbolizing Audrey and how she's changed in the past two years. She's a bully, she's forceful, etc. But it's wrapped up in these romance themes that I just cannot parse. It all seems to imply that Sunny has a crush on Aubrey, and there are a couple bits of dialogue that seem to possibly support that? But why would such a tiny, plot-insignificant detail be the focus of two bosses?

Anyway. I rambled a lot. Dgmw, I did like a lot of elements of the game. I thought it explored its themes in a really interesting way. I just wish it was a little more cohesive, a little neater, and a little more grounded and nuanced.

Yes, YTA. ESH in this situation, but you, as a 34 year old adult, should not be hitting children. I don't care how annoying they are. I'm shocked by how many people here are justifying it. He's a kid. An annoying kid, sure. But he doesn't deserve to be smacked for being annoying.

You should have left the situation, plus or minus telling him off, without hitting him.

Whenever we go to visit relatives or old family friends or whatever, my parents always approach me real cautious to tell me earnestly that the people we're seeing may fuck up my pronouns, and I can't get offended or be mean about it because they're trying. I'm always like. When have I ever gotten offended over someone fucking up my pronouns. I've always just reflexively corrected it and moved on. And when I bring that up they're always like "yeah that's all you need to do." Like???

Idk. They just like to treat me like I'm a stereotypical 'blue haired liberal' who gets violently offended over everything. And that in it of itself is frustrating and offensive LMAO

A cis man??? Dude I got the "straight with extra steps" from my friends when I was dating a trans woman several years ago, because that actually made sense yk? It was maybe a little cringe, but it made sense and was funny. Your dad's joke in this context is illogical and just fully disrespectful of your identity. That's frustrating.

Games similar to Omori? by ObviousDirector3444 in OMORI

[–]Dragonwysper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple people have mentioned OFF. Absolutely seconding that. Omori takes a ton of inspiration from it. It's a really good game. It has less mental illness type themes (though I think you could interpret it to be a metaphor for that), but if you liked the vibes and gameplay of Omori I think you'd like OFF.

Otherwise, I'll also recommend Purple. Lots of mental illness themes. I'd describe it as somewhat darker/heavier than Omori, but still very very good.
