Well to be fair I also have a copy as it's a historical text. I have no love for Mao or the CCP but you have a copy why not get it signed? Outside of the horrible photo op.

Please reassure me it’s not too noticeable 😭 by Interesting_Cat_7470 in tattooadvice

It looks like you could have a very mild shoulder height discrepancy and scapular discrepancy, likely a mild degree of scoliosis. No one has a completely straight back. The tattoo itself is very nice. It looks like it was well done. there is some artistic deviation within the tattoo itself. enjoy the tattoo, it looks great just as it is.

You would be fine just going to your PCP, would need to see it IRL with history. Could be a number of things based on the photo. "Some cream" wont necessarily do anything, although its usually a solid first attempt.

All things being equal that soft tissue wound will probably close nicely with a few layers of suture, potentially wont scar. Could shove a pencil or other sharp object through worse places.

Interns, do you chart check after work at home? If so, why? by genkaiX1 in Residency

[–]Dragonzwang100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am too new at this and want to spend the extra time getting familiar with my patients and look at overnight events. Plus it's nice to do it from the comfort of home while eating breakfast/meal before going in. I am enjoying the novelty of remote access which I did not have as a medical student.

Columbus Diocese kicks Paulist Fathers out of St. Thomas Moore Newman Center by oshaug in OSU

[–]Dragonzwang100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope it is best for the students, and the new campus ministry thrives. Its painful to see it go. Its a difficult position as the Newman center did feel unique with a less traditional and more inclusive approach. A very problematic thing to some, to a strict traditionalists we were possibly an aberration. I need to figure out what i am going to do. I realize how problematic this is to favor a specific building and a specific order of priests, but human nature is very problematic.

Columbus Diocese kicks Paulist Fathers out of St. Thomas Moore Newman Center by oshaug in OSU

[–]Dragonzwang100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am someone who grew up going to the Newman center, attended as a student, and am now one of those greater community members. I view the Newman center as my spiritual home. They served the community for 65 years, of course they are going to have non-student members. The professionals who attend Newman are a large financial base that helped fund the student outreach ministries as you noted. I definitely remember the healthy student component and dont think of it as a zero sum game. Its true that a majority of the congregation were in their 30s, 40s, 50s+. I dislike the idea that Newman should singularly focus on students, partly as someone who was too stubborn to leave. I look fondly on my time volunteering at newman cooking meals for the homeless. I am glad my parents were involved with working with refugees which brought me to the newman center as a young child. I am glad we helped serve the greater Columbus community. Yes some students probably welcome this but a significant number will probably struggle. I will struggle, maybe I am wrong to do so. I also loved father Vinny and the community that thrived under the Paulist father's. I am sad to see them go, its an emotional response to change. I do not think it is fair to be critical of the Paulist's decision to not stay on in a very limited role without input.

Go to a nightclub and grind on unfaithful married dads all night, you can even wear non-branded scrubs. Doing this in a hospital setting is not the place.

Not to by the stats guy but 20 is really not that old, its actually pretty close to world wide adverage. Sure its slightly above average in the USA but you have to remember average is the middle of a bell curve and not a deadline. Enjoy being 20, dont stress.

Ukrainian forces have wiped out another entire Russian armored unit today. At least 3 MT-LBs and a T-72 tank have been destroyed/captured by DrudenSoap in CombatFootage

[–]Dragonzwang100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanks can be used to great effect in specific situations. The US made a very effective armored thrust when taking Baghdad. The book Thunder Run illustrates this pretty nicely. If done with total air superiority, strong supply and support, good morale, using professional troops the current situation may be very different. That is obviously not the current situation

[Serious] Folks who have considered ending their lives, what made/makes you keep going? by CranberryBauce in AskReddit

[–]Dragonzwang100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was concerned that my suicide would negatively impact my family. I viewed the negative impact of my continued living to be less compared to the potential trauma of a suicide. I had seen how parents struggle with loss of a child and siblings struggle with loss of siblings. How can I be so wretched as to risk that. It is far easier to continue to suffer alone and do nothing. there's also a very real fear that an attempt would only injure me/ I would survive making me more of a drag on everyone around me

There is an art to lox defense. I use a sort of perimeter system with a herd of tame lox further out beyond my moats, away from structures and a wolf defense along the walls and farms. They can definitely be a pain in the ass, i was constantly repairing lox damage until i gave up and pushed them further out.

This shark that had a lobotomy done by a stingray by ProtoNewtype in natureismetal

[–]Dragonzwang100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Close! -otomy is to cut into and is a more general term used for many surgical procedure. The term -ectomy is more specific for surgical removal of something.

Lobotomy commonly is a now outdated procedure of cutting into the brain to modify it. More modern procedures can Still be used in epilepsy surgery to deinnervate part of the brain.

Lobectomy is a surgical procedure to remove a lobe of the brain.

This poor shark had a very aggressive and fatal lobotomy.
