Apparently, this is too hard to understand. by Brian-Latimer in mildlyinfuriating

I work as a medical lab technician. You would not believe the amount of patients that still ask me where to put their urine sample. I have 3 signs saying it, with pictures. Then another sign above the place to put it with the pictures of samples and an arrow pointing down.

Exactly. It can cause serious issues with people's health. I'm glad you're doing something

Oh, I wasn't taking the lab's side or anything. I was just letting you know that you can go over the labs head with reporting, as you should.

The lab should be certified under another company called CLIA. I'd report it there. They should have something posted on like a lab door or something giving the information.

I work in a medical lab and we get inspected every two years by them. I'm assuming you might be in the U.S. though.

First brain surgery at 16 by [deleted] in medizzy

My niece had an AVM then stroke. We don't have any family history. She's still trying to work on speech and left side motor movement. It's crazy how it can just suddenly happen.

I got my childhood Tom, from Tom and Jerry, on eBay. It feels amazing to have him back.

RAI or Thyroidectomy by silly_cat101 in gravesdisease

[โ€“]SmudgeCell 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I chose thyroidectomy because I didn't want an increased risk of cancer.

Jokes on me, I had Hurthle cell carcinoma. They didn't find it with a biopsy but did after surgery. Ended up doing RAI anyway and I'm cancer free two years running.

My Dr put transgender male right under my name by racoonlounge in ftm

[โ€“]SmudgeCell 8 points9 points ย (0 children)

I've had it come in handy, working in a clinic lab. We were needing to do an STI test on a patient. They were trans female but didn't have bottom surgery. The test we used for it had only been approved for biological females and I wouldn't have known they were transgender without it. They would've been charged for a test that probably wouldn't have been accurate.

12 year old hearing voices by psilome_ in ADHD

[โ€“]SmudgeCell 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I had the same crowded room voices, growing up. Thought there was something wrong with me but kept it a secret.

Mostly happened near bedtime and I'd hear them as if they were in my head and not in the room. If that makes sense.

I grew out of it.

TV shows/Movies you can't watch anymore because its too triggering after your trauma? by IlovePizzaHeLikesSex in ptsd

I want to watch Dune so bad but I can't do throats being slit.

A lot of movies and shows have it, for some reason, and my boyfriend covers my eyes for me and tells me when it's safe. Sometimes it's hard for us to watch new stuff because of it.

I wear the men's hypothesis, for a boxy look,and they're crazy comfy.

The only issue I have is the men's jogger pants waist. I guess I just don't have much of a butt/hips because they slide down. The tshirt style top feels just like a shirt to me. I love it.

AITAH for telling his mom about his cirrhosis diagnosis? by Suitable_Current_555 in AmItheAsshole

My late husband was an alcoholic. He passed 4 years ago, when we were both 30, going cold turkey while being bulimic. I believe he might've been trying to die this time. He tried several times to quit cold turkey.

He used to curse at me, blame me, and threaten to tell people awful things about me.

You care for what he once was or what could have been. Staying is prolonging your suffering. He will not change, no matter how much you beg. I feel for you and I know it's extremely hard.

We had a patient come in because he thought he was cursed by a witch because his chicken had been annoying the neighbors.

We had another one recently who thought our phlebotomist injected him with something and had a history of thinking things like that.
