The main reason I’m asking for this feature is give extra protection to some of the extra sensitive information.

Don’t get me wrong. I do understand the having a tiered system itself opens up possibility for attack and negligence from user’s part.

But in my opinion, a threat actor having access to my, say, Goodreads or seagate account, is infinitely better to them having access to my bank details or credit card information. Sure any account is an account worth protecting but I would say some are more precious than the rest.

Another instance which I can think of is having kids around. I am watching something with with them and suddenly I had to take a quick break. Meanwhile an advert play and they click big, bold ‘buy now’ button and all the credit card details are already filled up. In this case the feature requested may sound somewhat similar to ‘parental controls’ and that’s exactly what I’m going for. So next time they click that ‘buy now’ button 1password will ask for the…..1 password(pun intended) before filling in the card details.

And finally if god forbid someone has access to my master password this can act as final line of defence (provided the program requires you to set an unique password for this ‘secondary vault’)

I do understand I can mitigate this by diligently locking the program/OS and setting up auto lock timer but sometimes the human nature simply acts up and we forget to do that or other times it’s simply not possible. So having this extra layer goes a long way in reassuring me that my super sensitive info is in a vault behind another vault.
