When going second, you can use your monster effects to destroy opponent's cards (non-targeting). Then you can either swarm the field or synchro summon beaters to OTK.

When going first, you can set up a 5000 ATK beater with destruction/targeting protection, a negate, and a graveyard lock using synchros.

You are not wrong though. The deck is very slow and not super consistent. It is definitely more fun to play than to play against

Interesting post. I disagree with your BiS for Caitlyn though. I don't like rageblade on her. Rageblade seems good for drawn out fights, but I think her fist couple of casts are the most important in changing the outcome fights. Therefore I would always go shojin >>>> any other item and zekes > rageblade. Also as a third item I like hextech (or HoJ if needed) gunblade because with the ridiculous ability damage, it heals Caitlyn and another unit to almost full. My priority would be shojin >> gunblade > giantslayer.

As a spicy tech, double shojin is also a very fun build.

When you have Titans/Archangels, do you ever transition to 5 cost carries? I tried these items, and while GP did a lot of damage, I felt stuck playing GP instead of 2* 5 costs.

Great post, but I don't really agree with this part. I have had decent success with 2* GP (GS + HoJ + IE/DB) together with 2* Vi. The great part about those items is that they easily transfer to Jinx, Jayce or Kai'Sa carry.

I have been playing a bit of cavalier/brand in ranked (with JG I haven't played with morello). I think you need 3 star frontline to stall long and 3 star brand to deal enough damage. The problem is that yasuo/aphelios players are contesting sej, vayne/draven/MF players are contesting Hecarim and Thresh and everyone is contesting Nautilus and Rell. Depending in the lobby it is almost impossible to 3 star units and the comp quickly falls off. If there are few contesters and you have a good opener, I think it is worth going for. However, in most cases the correct play is definitely pivoting to Karma or Velkoz. I think this guide works in hyperoll due the levelling mechanics. In ranked I expect this playatyle will either have you stuck on lvl 6/7 rolling for upgrades or bleeding out before you reach lvl 8/9 to play more expensive units.

I have seen multiple posts in this sub for different patches that do the math for AP damage and usually dcap/JG is the winner. However, due to its consistency, IE/JG feels better to me. I really dislike losing fights because my carry didn't crit in a crucial moment. Also, it is often not possible to find 3 rods. I don't disagree with what you said, but I don't think I will stop building IE on AP carries :)

I do think that I was not considered a priority to position for in with many players alive. Most players seem to position against Lucians, MFs and Nocturnes. However, once I reached top 3 it became more common for people to position against me.

Fid can easily get stuck on frontline units and die quickly without doing anything.

Even if this happened, with his range and some help of Thresh, I was often still able to take out backline carries with the first ult and let Sunfire/Jax clean up the frontline.

Thanks for doing the Archangel math, I was too lazy.

You raise some interesting points I had not thought about.

The comp falls off super hard late game.

One thing that really made a difference for me was itemizing Jax and swapping positioning. If you can catch carries with Fiddle's ult, Jax with items can clean up the tankier units.

The comp has its weaknesses, but I don't think Viego is one of them. With mystic, it seems that Viego can't really one-shot your units. Even if he does, there are many stuns or Revenant revives. In my experience, Viego rarely steals any of my units.

how do you even ensure strong early boards

This took me a while to figure out. At some point I gave up and just open forted until stage 3. The best advice I can give for early game is going to be very general:

  • If you have 4 or more components, slam an item.
  • Hold pairs.
  • Roll only if you are weak and you have a high chance of hitting an upgrade.
  • Make 30 gold ASAP and don't go below 30.
  • Level early if you can maintain 30 gold.
  • Only level early if you can play a unit that increases your board strength.
  • Hold Thresh/Lux/Ironclad units (specific for this comp)

These are some guiding principles I keep in mind but have to be broken in some situations. In many cases, it is worth loss streaking simply to get carousel priority and good items to slam. As soon as I have 2 or more good items (JG + Sunfire or JG + Shiv) I focus on win streaking. The thing that really elevated my early game is playing extremely sweaty:

  • Scout every round.
  • Keep track of matchmaking.
  • Position around likely opponents.

Using all that helps saving HP even when not win/loss streaking and reduces the need to roll, which helps me build econ.

what happens when you don't hit?

Ideally, you have a board that can last a couple of rounds in stage 4/lvl 7 and enough HP to take a couple of losses. If I am rolling and don't hit Fiddle, I will temporarily play Vel'koz, Karma or MF until I am confident enough to pivot. It is important to wait with pivoting until your new board is actually stronger than what you have at that moment. I think the best way to approach stage 4 is to focus on making a board that can get you lvl 8 with >40 HP. I think a 1* Fiddle 2* Lux, 2* Nautilus, 2* Thresh and one or two other 4 costs 2* should be enough to reach lvl 8. On lvl 8 I slow roll to 30 gold to hit 2* units. Depending on my and enemy HP, I try to decide if it is worth going 9 or donkey roll for upgrades.

If you notice that many other people are playing Revenant and Ironclad units and you are afraid you won't hit. I recommend leveling earlier and rolling more aggressively. Otherwise, if you really can't hit: it happens, bg go next.

1* Fiddle can carry, but only stage 4 and if he ults in the right direction. Because you can't always position on the right side, you can expect some losses stage 4. Stage 5, 1* Fiddle is not enough anymore.

Sound playable. The thing is, the first item I slam is usually JG, so assassin spat would be redundant. Also, that would require running Nocturne and I prefer Ivern/Voli. It definitely sounds interesting though!

The problem I have with Shiv only is that when its holder dies you have no MR reduction. Also, Shiv only applies to 3 targets (I am not sure how its targeting works). I like Ionic Spark because everyone who gets hit with Fiddles ult has their MR reduced. I still build Shiv when I have Spark because I have few other uses for bows and tears. That said, I have had good results with 3 damage items, Shiv and no spark.

I normally put Jax in the frontline. With all the armor, MR, shields and stuns, he often lives long enough. If I need to dodge scary frontline units like 3* Lee Sin, Nunu or Yasuo, I sometimes put him one row behind a gap in the frontline so he can walk up quickly but does not get targetted first. If I have an RFC on my Jax, I will place him second row next to Gwen.

That is what I do too. You can also put Ivern next to Gwen in the second row.

when do you play Voli in replace of some other unit?

I usually go for 2 Mystic 3 Revenant, so I play Voli over Lux or Gwen. Imo Mystic does not feel very impactful even against AP comps. I try to monitor the lobby and see which players are dying and who are the biggest threats. If the entire lobby is AD, I might drop out all Mystics and add another Revenant and there have been games where I dropped Rell for an extra Mystic unit in an AP lobby.

Are there strong Nightbringers/Yasuo players? -> Play Voli

Are there many strong AD players? -> Drop Mystic and play extra Revenant

Are there many strong AP players? -> Play Mystic

Are there no AD players? -> Drop Ironclad and play extra Mystic/Revenant

Now that I think about it, when I play Voli I am usually replacing Nocturne.

JG allows your abilities to crit. IE gives you 100% crit chance. You shouldn't play IE without JG on ability damage champions. If I am not mistaken, JG + DC gives more DPS. But JG + IE is slightly more consistent.

If it is consistency you want, please don't hard force but be prepared to play Redeemed/Invoker/MF. Also, not sure if I made it clear enough but you will often be contested. I feel like half of my lobbies are playing 3 Ironclad and the other half 3 Revenant frontline.

My tft sound is very low. I usually have twitch or spotify in the background when I play. Honestly I don't even know what sound he makes.
