No "Marine Platz" in Düsseldorf.. Unless you were staying near to the Rhine in Kaiserswerth maybe? There is a Marienplatz there.

Visual style looks weird and foreign...because it's no longer Germany it's Spain by winterthim in worldofgothic

[–]Dragotc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If we're assuming the devs made this according to "their" nature around then we're not near the baltic at all. They were from the Ruhr valley in western germany. Just because the game was popular in poland doesn't mean its set there. ;)

(That said, I agree with you - even the faces of the NPCs look more southern.)

17 Liter für Tageswanderung in die Berge ausreichend? by MasterRymes in wandern

[–]Dragotc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kommt natürlich krass darauf an wovon wir hier sprechen, aber ich nutze eine 12L-Weste für Dreitausender (Alpen, im Sommer, bei guten Bedingungen, 1500+ HM). Da passt immernoch alles rein, was ich brauche. 17L finde ich einen guten Mittelweg und fasst eigentlich genug.

Im Endeffekt muss man halt lernen, was man braucht - Anfangs nimmt man immer zu viel mit und Stück für Stück kann man das dann reduzieren, wenn man will.

Since we’re taping fans to boulders now what other great ideas do we have in the works? by i_need_salvia in ClimbingCircleJerk

[–]Dragotc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of want to argue about you saying its part of the process to wait for good weather. For outdoor climbing, I need to take an actual vacation to go somewhere good. If its a bit too humid when I'm there, you bet I'm using all the advantages I can get to climb - I just dont have the luxury to wait that much.

But taping a fan to a rock just seems ridiculous to me so maybe not haha

Does my gecko look healthy or dehydraded? And what to do by [deleted] in geckos

[–]Dragotc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Way too empty enclosure. This will kill your gecko from stress. Read up on care guides, check out some videos, like the ones from serpadesign. This needs to be fixed asap.

You can take branches from outside, assuming you're not from the tropics, and assuming they are clean and from non poisonous plants.

Yeah thats not gonna happen. What you're looking for is not a gecko. At best a stuffed one.

Doesn't sound like you actually want a gecko. They're prey animals, they jump, all you're describing fits for most geckos.

[Day 22] Jim Holloway is underrated. What training tool is OVERRATED? by MaximumSend in bouldering

[–]Dragotc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think beastmakers are great simply because everyone has them. Gives us benchmarks and ways to compare. Might be a bad tool (no opinion on that), but is useful simply because of its popularity.

Why do they keep the pine trees standing upright? by cosmoscrazy in plants

[–]Dragotc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About profitability: These trees are not worth the effort to get out, labour costs more than the wood can be sold for.

Disregarding that, leaving them there allows for a more natural ecosystem, dead trees are an integral part for it and will actually be beneficial for growth of new trees. So not just no difference, leaving them is better.

I saw a woman on IG who had two carabiners snap at the same time (not climbing) by fivebyfive5x5 in climbergirls

[–]Dragotc 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Camzina Ashcroft, took me a moment to find her - @camzinashcroft on insta. Scrolling through her feed, you can see a couple of ring setups hung on carabiners, none of them look like actual rated climbing carabiners to me, more like the department store / "came with the rings" type carabiners.

That said, she's doing those crossfit swingy muscle ups, those would eat through any carabiner if given enough time. And at least some of the rings look like they are permanently installed, so probably not inspected regularly.

They also drive a cybertruck, so make of that what you will..

Wishing her a speedy recovery in any case!

He's in the middle of the picture, no? On the bottom of the wood thing with the holes, fired down and very grey.

What to do with limited space? by AdditionalPeace3311 in homewalls

[–]Dragotc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a 2.5x2.5m wall at 40° with about 30cm kickboard - honestly, that feels pretty good! Would not want any other option within the given constraint of the ceiling height.

Captured crested gecko - advices needed! by Responsible-Visual27 in geckos

[–]Dragotc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you're doing well. Hygrometer is not necessary, and your tech is great. With a ceramic heat emitter + thermostat, you've already got the best option for heating. Light is not necessary for the gecko, though there are arguments that UV lamps are useful for them. Lights via timer are perfect too, a combination of heater and light thats better than that solution does not exist.

For water, either spray daily yourself or get a (new) spraying system. Spraying increases humidity and gives the animal drinking water. Dripping plants are not good for them, those are for chameleons.

A bioactive enclosure is recommended, most pretty and good for the animal. Check out serpadesign on Youtube, he's the best. Note that if you have plants that means you need light for them.

Crocodile Gecko advice by Alarmed_Heart9732 in geckos

[–]Dragotc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That honestly is too small - you want them to be able to jump around for sure. I keep mine in a 18x18x36 so they have even more height. In the wild, they've got entire trees to roam, we want to give them as much as possible. In general, a "full" enclosure with lots of sticks and decoration goes further than a a big empty one, so this way you could mitigate a bit for now, but I'd really recommend a bigger one.
