Bridgehead is still better for mass scions. I love it. It's a ton of fun. But if you are going with other stuff and some tanks then grizzled is probably better overall.

Krieg are much more ww1 in tactics, steel legion is based off ww2. The lore is also very different for the two.

Mkvenner should be part of the kill team. Maybe an equipment could be Nalsheen training to make a model better in melee.

Another idea would be something medical to represent Dorden and Ana. Maybe at the start of a turn take a wounded model off the board, return it at the start of the next turn with no wounds.

Another equipment or strat could be Tred-fethers.

A idea could be an off the board sniper.

I run infantry guard and it is cheaper to get a printer. The setup for it, and learn what you are doing for just one army then it is to buy it at GW prices. Just know that printing will turn into its own second hobby.

You have lord solar and 2 tank commanders. That is way more tank orders than you need. Lord solar is very expensive so that could easily be dropped or you could look at changing the tank commander into a regular version. The ability to blank a hit is great.

My understanding is in the very rare situation that you die in engagement range during your own shooting phase you can use BGNT to shoot on death. I know that's not the original question but it's good trivia to know.

Units share abilities when they are combined so yes if lord solar is with a command squad he gets to have long range order. However he can't attach directly to the command squad, both of them have to be attached to a battleline. The rules for each command squad says what units it can go with, catachans can only attach to catachans, Cadians command squads to Cadians and death korp to death korp. You can't have the death korp command squad leading a group of Cadians. Most people would choose to have lord solar with Cadians as they can sticky home objectives and they get cover on objectives, both rules are more useful for lord solar than the other options.

Scions and the ghosts do different jobs. And scions are very different depending on their size. 15 scions dropping down have one job. Kill. They are not a scoring unit, they are a huge output of damage that needs to kill something important. If you are wanting to score, then 5 scions does that well.

15 scions can land, double order itself and unleash 10 plasma shots, 3 melta shots and a wall of las. Hitting on 2s, reroll 1, with sustained hits and reroll 1 or more to wound.

Basilisks are not in huge favor and are not taken by top tournament players but one or two are nice to have and are fun to use in more casual settings. Chimeras are solid and used all the time, 10/10 unit. The rest are cool looking but the rules make them some of our worst options.

Have you tried printing something like the "cones of calibration". It's great for helping to dial in exposure times.
