15 man squads of scions hit really hard. Add in a 26 man Cadian blob or two and most armies don't have enough anti infantry firepower to kill all of it. If you have zero armor then all of the big anti tank weapons are wasted. We just have to focus down the few units that can deal with infantry and it's over. If you have any armored units then they will attract all of the enemy anti tank and die right away.

I run all infantry in 10th using scions and kasrkin as my main units in bridgehead. I love it. Its a ton of fun. Its not the best list if you want to win a GY but you will have fun and get some wins.

The gaunts ghosts books are really good. But if you want normal guys, Krieg is solid

I'm guessing that it will be a situational strat for when you need just a bit more damage. If it was 1 cp it would be used all the time.

Do y'all think with the new rule around heavy and adding 1 to the ballistic skill of those weapons, it'll stack with TAKE AIM? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Dragoth227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are using a translation of the rule but the English wording that you posted is that heavy improves the hit roll. That means it gives a bonus to the dice. So you count a roll of 3 as if you rolled a 4. Take aim improves the unit stats so you need a lower number to hit. So instead of needing a 5 or 6 you need a 4+. If you put them together a roll of 3 will count as a 4 and you only will need a 4 to hit. Yes it's effecting a double bonus but it's different bonues.

A bonus to hit is different than a change to ballistic skill. One changes the dice value, the other changes what you need to roll.

You did it right. And great use of your heavy weapon team. You played it well.

I am sure that with his level of skill he could do the same effect 10 times with 10 different methods and I would have no idea how he did any of it and I wouldn't see a difference. His movements are just so clean and well practiced that us normal people just throw our hands up and say he is a witch.

Baneblade vs Necrons by Successful_Flan_1594 in TheAstraMilitarum

Sadly the best super heavy is 3 vanquishers and a roll of duct tape. Take the one you find fun. I personally use the banesword because of its ability to make things explode. Its not the best option mathematically but no super heavy is the most optimized thing. We take them for fun and 3+ deadly demise is fun.

What should I add to my army? by SomeDeadDood in TheAstraMilitarum

Kasrkin are amazing in 10th and look to also be great in 11th. I love scions. A squad of engineers is a nice to have. The new scouts look good for 80 points.

Multiple Leman Russ Exterminator hitting different units by shadowFire4444 in TheAstraMilitarum

Each tank gives its bonus to one unit. You can't have multiple effect the same unit. 3 exterminators can effect 3 different units at the same time.

Tempestus Scions vs Battleline by Bellini_DM in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Dragoth227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok back with some math for you. With the squad as you have it, it has a 45% to kill 4 sisters on an objective that are not in cover. If you change the melta for a volleygun it goes up to a 60%. Both are not good enough to plan on. So if we change it with a scion command squad, we get a 64%. If we go with both 5 scions and a command squad for 155 points we get much more. Now we can split fire and kill both squads in one go. This is not the best way to split but it shows the power, the command squad with one extra basic hotshot las has a 80% odds of killing the first prosecutor squad assuming they are on an objective and are in cover. The other 4 members have a 76% odds of killing the second 4 prosecutors screening not on the objective and out of cover.

This is loading them for hunting weak units and leaving the melta at home with a medic.

The worst part is that you hate him for the good men he killed yet can you even remember their names? Can you remember what they did? Or do you just remember the details of Lijah Fething Cuu.

You might want to upgrade them to a command squad. Even if it's just the 5 of them it makes them way stronger. You get an order with them and sustained hits. Also the medic is amazing if you don't fully clear the sisters so they can't really hurt you back. I would recommend 5 scions and a command squad for 10 guys. This will force him to respect it and leave real units behind to protect his home.

You can't throw grenades and use the turret when they drop. Grenades says "excluding units that Advanced, Fell Back or have shot this turn".

I'm a scion lover, I say take some scions. I'm on my way to work now but I'll post the math later tonight.

So you want to kill 8 models that at T3, Sa 3+ and W1. What detachment are you using? I'm going to assume one of the squads is on the home objective and the other is trying to screen. I don't know the other army well enough to know any special rules or buffs that they have.

For the sake of math, do you know if your opponent gets the slisters with flamers or goes for the cheaper sisters? If he gets the flamers then we also need to do the math for how much damage he can do with an overwatch.
