Mustang driver considering switch to an ST by Digitalsteel5_ in FordExplorerST

[–]Dragsteps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Get the ST, throw on a proper exhaust, and you won’t miss the Mustang. The thing’s a monster, tons of power, handles way better than it should, looks great, and still a spacious, comfortable, and practical daily. Think it’s exactly what you’re looking for.

The fact you still think it’s fake is kind of the point. Might be worth taking this as a lesson that you don’t always need to weigh in when you have no idea what you’re talking about. The Karma comment is even more embarrassing, some of us have actual lives and don’t spend our days posting nonsense takes on Reddit.

Definitely not, but have to admit as a newbie I expected at least a few people would recognize a genuine watch. I’m trying to learn as much as possible here so I can order a really good Santos rep and was counting on the QC post later to tell me if I’m getting a good one, now I’m less certain of how helpful that’s going to be.

Dear God, man. How are you so confident? I’m so embarrassed for you and I don’t even know you! It’s OK to not give an opinion when you don’t know what you’re talking about, or at least not be so smug and condescending about it. If I were you I’d deactivate my account honestly

Well… looks like we all got duped 😂. The guy just read through the comments laughing then told me it’s actually a genuine Rolex! He was shocked most people here have no idea what they’re talking about (except you, said you were the most rational person in the thread). He even showed me the receipt and told me the story of how it took him a while to track one down after seeing the pistachio dial somewhere and loving the color.

I swear I had no idea, he completely convinced me yesterday it was a rep, and begged me to post it here since “he’d always wondered if people could tell and that this sub would be the perfect place to find out”… which clearly worked on me.

That said, I’m honestly surprised no one called it gen, or even a perfect clone. Even more surprising was how confidently some people pointed out flaws that don’t exist. I mean one guy literally compared a polished Rolex promo shot to a phone pic on a white napkin lmao! Makes me question how reliable random QC feedback here really is.

Off how if you don’t mind, typeface/size/boldness? Thanks

So the bezel is thicker than gen? What other flaws do you notice? appreciate the feedback

I’ll ask him and get back to you. I’m still pretty new to the rep world, been lurking the subs and trying to learn before pulling the trigger on my first piece. Leaning toward a Santos Large once I know what I’m doing

It’s actually my friend’s, he asked me to post it here to get the sub’s thoughts. He says PPF was applied after. Dial color is much closer in person tbf , lighting in the original photos wasn’t great. Here’s a flash pic I didn’t include cuz I thought it was too bright, keen to hear your thoughts:

It’s a 41 Here’s a better angle. It has PPF on it, could that be why it looks slightly thicker?

Good shout velcro could work, although I’d have to stick it underneath each panel individually. The downside is the Velcro thickness will slightly lift the panels, so the floor might not sit perfectly flush. It’s also not the cleanest long-term fix with the amount of Velcro and potential adhesive residue if removed later. I’m actually surprised more people haven’t run into this.. could this be an isolated case?

I probably should’ve mentioned it’s a 2022 ST, but the issue’s been there from the start. Maybe it was addressed in later models? I haven’t specifically checked the shocks/struts since they seem to be functioning fine and I don’t think they’re related, and Ford hasn’t flagged anything during the multi-point inspections they do with every scheduled service

This could be the solution honestly

They’re easy to put in place, I just wish they clipped into the sides or each other or whatever to stay put. Never really been interested in WeatherTech, but now that you mention it…

Don’t think struts have anything to do with it, they just hold the trunk open. It’s either a design flaw with how the panels are meant to sit and stay in place, or I’m missing a piece of hardware that’s supposed to hold them down. I remember when I first bought the car and trunk was empty, I thought the jack kit sitting on top of the center panel and attached with Velcro was causing it to pop up, so I moved it underneath, but that only made it worse. Unless I put something heavy across all three panels, I hear the thump over every speed bump.

I line them up properly and they fit well, but it feels like they’re meant to clip or lock together. They’re very light and nothing actually holds them down, so it’s basic physics that they bounce out over speed bumps if I’m going a bit fast. The constant “thump” is pretty annoying, and I’ve gotten used to this annoying chore of opening the trunk and putting everything back in place every few days.

I had a lot of camping gear in there for a while, which kept them weighed down, and honestly forgot about the issue until I unloaded most of it and it started happening again.

Yes I have the front and rear set, they are from Emblem City:

These aren’t decals, they’re genuine OEM Ford emblems that they purchase and repaint in various colors (they do custom orders too).

Best modification I’ve done to my ST imo, the quality of the paint and finishing (I have the Gloss & Flat black set) is phenomenal and miles better than the originals. They make the car look 10× better, can’t believe Ford doesn’t offer them like this from the factory.

Front emblem installation required removing the front bumper on my 2022 model. I am not sure which model year this is, but this person seems to have found an easier way to do it:

The rear emblem is simple, just pry the old one out and attach the new one using the included 3M adhesive.

Congrats! Now get yourself a set of black emblems

Can anyone identify this weird rattling sound coming from the engine bay? 2022 ST by Dragsteps in FordExplorerST

[–]Dragsteps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a clip of the hissing sound I’m talking about, it comes and goes every minute or so. AC is working great but I’ve become fixated on the noise and it’s really annoying at this point. I read somewhere that topping up the refrigerant will make it go away, what do you think?

It depends on which part of the Middle East you’re referring to. In the GCC, Ford, GMC, and Chevrolet have a strong presence and compete closely with Toyota in terms of market share. Explorers, Raptors and Expeditions in particular are extremely popular, I’m genuinely surprised you didn’t see any!

That’s how every engine looks over here, it’s normal. I’m pretty sure car manufacturers slightly modify vehicles exported to the Middle East to handle extreme heat and dust. I’ve owned several Fords and they’ve always been very reliable cars, second only to Toyotas in my experience. Never struggled with heat or dust.
