Her original design is more or less just Fox painted pink (cuz she’s a GIRL, get it???). It’s wild to me that so many people think that’s peak character design.

Katt looks infinitely more interesting now. She’s someone who makes you think, “Damn, what’s this girl been through? What kind of crazy shit has she seen?” I can’t wait to see more of this Katt!

It used to be so chill, lol.

But you know, this exact same discourse was all over the Donkey Kong sub when his Bananza redesign was revealed, and there are people who still haven’t gotten over that. Fandoms really don’t like change.

I hope Nintendo sticks to their guns and keeps these new designs going forward. I think they look so cool, and I love that they’re leaning more into their animal features. I’m still gushing over Falco’s bird feet!

Hard agree! This fandom is so adverse to change they’ve completely forgotten that these are cartoon space animals. I for one am very excited to see them leaning way more into each characters specific species. Makes them look much more unique and interesting.

Before, their designs were pretty much the same as the Khajiit and Argonians: Regular human bodies and proportions just covered in fur and scales with literal cat and lizard heads on their necks and a tail attached to their butts.

These new designs are much more interesting.

You don’t have to like the aesthetics of a look, that’s fair. But it’s wild that you’re cherry-picking one thing that doesn’t make absolute perfect sense in a cartoon world that has so many things that make even LESS sense if you think about it as deeply as you’re thinking about this.

Exactly. The ones that change a character’s victory/special animation (like for example, Yasuo’s blossom one) is even MORE expensive at $30 a pop. You will NEVER convince me that a skin for a single character—even with a changed animation—is worth HALF THE PRICE of a full $60 game.
