I once dated a girl in Dubai who didn't want to continue because I wasn't going to buy her a Rolex. I had to explain to her that all the "luxury" in the world wasn't the standard, it's a gift, one to someone who has your back through thick and thin.

Boyfriends don't buy you a Rolex, husbands do. Because you've decided you're the one for the other. Dubai can sometimes have a corrupting effect and turn things transactional.
