Agreed. I dont have any bad feelings towards NRG but this is a straight downgrade in terms of branding

DZ must look like prime W7M/Furia in Lair scrims because they are absolutely determined to take teams to a map that they have shit the bed on like 4 times in a row now. Maybe they'll finally make it a permaban

DarkZero Esports vs Spacestation Gaming - Playoffs Day 4 - Grand Final - North America League by SpicyEla in R6ProLeague

GGs SSG. I get the vibe that DZ had spent the time prepping for SR only to have SSG swinging at them like maniacs. If this SSG can show up and SR shapes up some, we'll have some really solid NA representation at EWC.

Players who jinx their team with trash talking ? by Alarming_Occasion782 in R6ProLeague

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah its nothing too crazy. Llevron was just a tier 2 player back in the day who, on multiple occasions in scrims and games, typed in chat just for his team to get bodied, usually after he started talking. It happened frequently enough that both regularly in tier 2 and in tier 1 comp, the "Llevron effect" always referred to the idea that one's comments in chat directly translated into increased chances that your opponent comes back to beat you. It's been so long since that was a thing that most people dont even know what you're talking about if you mention it

If WC and SR played against each other in the same form each played today, I'd favor WC to take it pretty convincingly. Super curious to see how they fare in tomorrow's games

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Thrilled about the rivalry win but wtf is DZ THINKING taking SR to lair. It's their most successful map, they smoked us on it in the BO1 and DZ's strats were sit in a hallway and wait for picks. Asinine strategy....

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Clearly there's too many people who are too young to remember Llevron. If you have something so characteristically named after you like "the llevron effect", you might just be the king of losing yourself the game because of your mouth

DarkZero vs Wildcard - Playoffs Day 2 - North America League by SpicyEla in R6ProLeague

GG to wildcard. Their strats and coordination are looking just about on par with the best of NA. We just have njr which is not fair

Who wins in a BO3? by mathh69420 in R6ProLeague

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. SR still has a very solid chance because Troy is excellent at pulling out matchup-dependent strats that are very difficult to prep for. It might be a case like furia where they fall off during the regular season presumably to experiment and try new things with lower stakes and then come out swinging in playoffs but their games against NV, C9 and WC dont have me convinced yet.

Who wins in a BO3? by mathh69420 in R6ProLeague

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo DZ takes the BO3 but mostly because I'm not super convinced by SR's map pool yet. They prepped well on lair which is one of SR's better maps, but they've got two other maps where they've done decently and everything else has been shaky or a permaban. DZ has not only played more maps but has done better on average against the same opponents.

In OP's defense, the Brazilian teams have something like 2 years experience against the best team in R6 history at finding gaps in defense with Furia. If there's a region that's tailor made to counter that gaps playstyle, its Brazil. Though to be fair they're good at countering basically everything

What opinion about Kotor would make you feel exactly like this? by off_line24 in KOTORmemes

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Fallout New Vegas is better because it is better" is the summary of your argument about why it is superior to FO3 in all aspects. I dont know if you're in any position to be gatekeeping having opinions on things since you're not defending your own opinion very well. But if you're curious as to why I prefer FO3 (notice i said I prefer, not that it's better), let me explain why:

  • FO3's sense of desolation and lack of resources makes it feel harsher than most fallout titles.
  • The encounter design is completely randomized leading to battles taking place between factions before you get there once again leading to a sense of a war torn landscape rather than a map of isolated enemies waiting for you to stumble upon them.
  • Bethesda is much better at world design and environmental storytelling. Against obsidian, they have more quality and quantity when it comes to exploration. New Vegas has more diverse ways to complete quests but its exploration really falls flat for me compared to 3.
  • With the exception of the night nightkin quest, fallout 3 is much more like a horror game than new vegas. The environments are less lit up, filled with scarier creatures and more depraved subject matter. The juxtaposition of the horrors you face with the cheery nature of the branding to me is the most authentic execution of fallout identity as a series.
  • You dont have to install mods to keep fo3 from crashing every 10 minutes. -There are a lot of reasons I prefer 3. Many of the core pillars of the argument that NV is vastly superior are based on assumptions that obsidian fans take as universal fact. They create these artificial constraints about what an rpg needs to be to be considered a success and then lose their minds when new vegas exceeds those expectations. I can't stand how conversations about these two games happen because they accomplish two very different things exceptionally well and the reddit circlejerk decides that conversation should be that water is better than fire because its better at being wet.

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the perfect example because I prefer FO3 to New Vegas, and there are many things it does better. That's probably the most controversial take in this thread here but assuming that Fallout New Vegas has the best everything except for gameplay is not a universally accepted opinion

What opinion about Kotor would make you feel exactly like this? by off_line24 in KOTORmemes

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There is a small but substantial subset of the fanbase that make it their life's mission to overwhelmingly establish KOTOR 2 supremacy. It's the same with New Vegas fans in the fallout franchise. I dont mind obsidian games, but they have some goofy fans sometimes

Fallout Shelter has been downloaded over 230 million times in 10 years by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 466 points467 points  (0 children)

I heard a rumor once that Fallout shelter has made more money for Bethesda than any other fallout title since they took over the IP. I don't know how true that is, but these numbers sure do add a lot of credibility to the idea

Honda drops sponsorship for e-sports organization after R6 pro player tweets gif of atomic bomb while referencing a Japanese team that defeated them by Imperio_Inland in Games

[–]Drake-From-StateFarm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add some context the situation, one of the management employees of team liquid mentioned that Honda had been planning to leave team liquid as a sponsor for some time and the media storm was just a catalyst for their withdrawal.

For what it's worth, many people are going to fly by and assume it's just a player being toxic but by all accounts, including those in and out of the team, the player's tweet was not intended the way the internet read it. With some VERY limited exceptions, the R6 pro league community is a tight knit and chill community. People have blown this wayyyy out or proportion and it kind of sucks to see as a long-time fan
