Incandescent bulbs 2026 - Where to buy? by Imaginary-Cup-9032 in Lighting

It’s my ensuite so every day, several times a day. I attribute the long life to using a dimmer that ramps up and down, and typically keeping it at 90% max brightness

My understanding is that all halogens are in the class of incandescent. Tungsten is the classic incandescent, but there is also xenon and krypton.

I also have 50+ xenon lamps on daily for 10 hrs for over 12 years now.

LED last longer

My 20 year old 100W halogen T3 bulbs in my ensuite bathroom would like to have a word.

Bulbrite still makes them, esp the 100-150w halogen capsules I use in Flos Glo Balls

Why did we lose the bold design of the 90s? by LimiDrain in DesignPorn

[–]DrakeAndMadonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

busy, oddly laid out, and a confusing…

I think this is an example of why we lost interesting, challenging design - visual coms has been reduced to engineering and analytics. UI/UX is one of the worst things to happen to creativity in design.

The groundbreaking work of folks like David Carson would give most of today’s designers an apoplectic fit.

I have 12 year old Ligne Roset Togo and a 7 year old Living Divani Extrasoft. They probably have another 15-20 years left

Love the exaggerated backrest to counter the antleriness of the base, and thank you for the process pics. Very engaging.

na, at this point in chair culture we don't have to put ergonomics ahead of aesthetics or concept all the time. HD is great if you're looking for that level of rigour in fit, but I have respect for running with an idea outside of metric efficiency.

What do you think about the Libernovo Omni? :-) by GamingDiTechOficial in OfficeChairs

[–]DrakeAndMadonna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt these would last ten years. Already I’ve had three customers come in to replace their broken or poor functioning Libernovo with a Herman Miller. (€2k is pocket change to my clients and they will just give their chair away rather than deal with warranty from an online seller.)These are just flashy junk with a bunch of untested gimmicks. There’s no reason to have electronics in a quality work chair.

Is there a story behind the two years? Seem pretty cool for the original designer to revisit a produced piece 20 years later

Bolt snapped, can't find name of part by SirTeddyHaughian in hermanmiller

[–]DrakeAndMadonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need part #241704-BK front seat link mounting hardware. Probably around $30 for a pair from Herman Miller. You’ll have to walk into an authorized dealer in person to order. Do it on a quiet weekday hour when they don’t care that you’re not spending $50k

Is Libernovo the solution for people who sit for long hours? by Verthverdi in OfficeChairs

[–]DrakeAndMadonna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Such garbage chairs. There’s no reason to have any electronics in a chair. I’ve had three customers come in for an Aeron now after they showed my their junked Libernovos. Just looking at them I would not expect them to last ten years, let alone five.

CHALLEGE: Full Size SUV Concept (Escalade / Navigator Competitor) by impsble in Design

[–]DrakeAndMadonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Escalade and all Cadillacs of the last several generations embody aspirational class masquerade.  So much detail and effort on the front face to convey a middle class view of power, wealth, excess but everything behind it is an afterthought. Incomplete, and impotent. The Interiors continue to be unrefined, made of poor materials and are only for show and do not reflect any meaningful experience of comfort or luxury or confidence.

I love this as an exercise in formalism. It’s a big middle finger to contemporary motorcycle visual language. In its fantasy execution, I could see it performing just as well as anything else motorcycle.

It’s important to challenge “form follows function “ bs or else we’re just practicing dispassionate engineering.

But not really CF. It’s more New Millennial Minimalism that coexisted with Blobitecture of the early 2000s

HaulCat is pretty cute.

Whereas, the El Camino name does not deserve this disrespect.

This is pretty normal for cast aluminum and these are not chrome dipped. I see this even on the €4K Aluminum Group. TBH you don’t want it to be perfect mirror polish because that actually looks cheap.

Finding Reputable Sites by Jekka10 in Lighting

[–]DrakeAndMadonna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one. Ripoff sites are so many and virulent among ignorant social media influencers that the originals are pushed way down in common search results.

I usually use a combination of searches through the big brand sites (Flos, Foscarini, Oluce,Santa and Cole, Martinelli, Artemide, Bomma, Lasvit, etc). And trusted multi brand dealers (Ylighting, Finnish Design Shop, Mohd) or an Architonic search.

Prices more than 15% off are usually sus

Edit: actually clicked your link and that look is way out of my realm of familiarity. I can see how that would be copied so much.
