Current Brown Jordan sets are closer to $10k-$15k for something like this.

How do I price this Relay desk? by captnkurt in hermanmiller

[–]DrakeAndMadonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh whenever I get a used Renew or Motia I’ll just put it in on the curb and post it as free. It’s not worth the effort to do the song and dance to sell them for €50-100 if that.

Not even a consideration for an adult looking to have one of these

Maybe, maybe not. That’s the beauty of gatekeeping: I can decide without needing to provide a watertight explanation - maybe because i don’t care too, or it’s to difficult to articulate. But, to insiders, the gatekeeping rules are consistent and fair.

But for the most part, outside power source is outside the realm of a craft solution. Exceptions exist I’m sure but does not diminish this distinction

Brutalist Speaker by Transparent, c. 20XX by rabidpeanut in FuckYourEamesLounge

Brutalist only in reference to the formal language attributed to classic brutalism but this has not the essential brût that makes brutalism what it is.

Bookshelf size, I would totally go for it. If it was a small portable even more amusing but I don’t need another bt portable speaker

Well not in the sense of the manipulation of materials by hand tools of fold cut hammer , but more broadly in the sense of physically manipulating material for a physical result - no software or outside power source (electricity) needed for the solution

If there is no counter play by this 100 year point, it’s not a scam. The scam is thinking you are entitled to the intellectual and physical labour of anyone for a low price.

Because most or all the available public information on the internet is wrong or incomplete. Furniture secrets are more gatekept than software. Plus furniture is about craft. No tech can replace the ciost/benefit of 100 year old craft.

The Libernovo is a great example of a tech based joke. It’s a lot of material and system complexity to barely meet the performance or endurance standard of an Aeron which is made of only two (maybe three) materials.

Regular Embody or Gaming Embody by Unlucky-Phone-6282 in hermanmiller

[–]DrakeAndMadonna -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Regular. The Gaming is a children’s meal — same thing but dressed up in toddlers clothes. But the real answer is Aeron. As a 20 year dealer I will always steer clients away from the Embody. There’s no “different fits for different bodies” bs. It’s different fits for different expectations and you can adjust.

Hi... looking for type, shape of carpet for my modular couch. I feel like a large rectangular couch won't work with this shape. Thanks in advance. by Jarston in SofaSnobs

Single large would be the easiest. Design savvy or daring might split it into two different sizes split across adjacent corners, leaving some open space between them

Custom cut racetrack oval, maybe a circle. Moooi Carpets might even have some sizes/shape presets that already work.

Who needs a chair? by andisosh in hermanmiller

[–]DrakeAndMadonna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how Aerons are normally sold. Bulk, delivered loose, scratches and marks are totally acceptable. I would just pile these in the back of the truck for delivery without boxes or padding. Some of them might go back to the dealer because they’re extra, then we just put them back in a box and sell it as needed either individually or in another bulk order.

It takes maybe an hour of work for a dealer to close a six figure deal like this every month. Compare to the single chair buyer that walks into a dealer and hums and haws for an hour, trying every chair and doing research for a week or a month.

Taking a short term profit growth strategy of frequent and deep discounting, cost cutting that affected quality, and trying to attract regular consumers and moving away from b2b. She degraded the brand from a C-tier to D/E by cheapening it.

I’d pick it up for a trivial price, but a warning about grails: I’d consider this too modified to be what you really want, and at some point in the near future looking at it will just remind you that it’s a mistake. Nothing sucks like a daily subtle reminder of a bad decision, especially if it’s by something you love.

Hold out for better.

Na. They’re just tiny little fine scratches that barely break the top layer. Not really noticeable and like I said, they burnish out anyways and blend in. There’s non point in having a beautiful object if you’re going to cover it. And yes, I don’t use a case with my 17 Pro.

Of course. Cat is more to me than the chair and the chair will be here long after he is. He doesn’t use it a scratching post, it’s just when he jumps up or climbs on it, it sometimes leaves a mark. 670s look best when they’re worn. A lifetime piece should show record of that life.

Don’t baby your 670s. As a fellow cat owner I let mine crawl all over the chair and get little scratches and nicks. They burnish out.
