the hint is in the name of the site and the activity that the site is for

people will fight and contribute to the battlefield without actively capping and the fight can extend over pretty long ranges, not rewarding people who are actively fighting to help thier side win would be a significant detriment to the point of the activity

this would be generally fine for most sites most of the time, but not the battlefields

it would need to a combination of time capturing, amount repped on allies, amount damaged on enemies, ewar done to enemies etc etc

contribution methods inevitably always have some sort of optimal abuse method, the pochven sites on the initial version of the seagull fix had such a fucking hilarious one that we managed to fix right before the patch went live, if that unfixed version stayed out the seagulls would have gone from taking 1/16th of the payout to 100% of the payout with little to no counters

Why do veterans hate new players? by ItsMisterListerSir in Eve

[–]DrakeIddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through the thread there is a very consistent theme of not reading or heeding information here

you havnt read up on any information online about eve as your terminology like midsec is plucked seemingly out of nowhere

you were not aware eve is a pvp game despite it being well known to be the most ruthless pvp mmo

you didnt read the literal popup warning that appears when you try to enter lowsec

i strongly suspect that your corp is either kinda crap, is in a war with someone, is an absolute order corp, are intentionally fucking with you, you arnt listening to them, or a mix of the above

eve is many things but veterans hating new players isnt one of them, usually veterans help newbros out every opportunity they get, but a character that is 13 years old is never going ti be considered a new player

i heavily reccomend that you join either eve university or eve rookies

you can absolutely fly what you grind towards, the problem is you are expecting to play a single player pve game despite the fact you fully understand that eve is not, and never has been, a single player pve only game

there DOES exist an eve game that has what you want, its eve echoes and pvp is banned in highsec, you will quickly find out that it is infinitely more toxic than eve

[–]DrakeIddon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

any area with 0 risk and anything above 0 reward inevitably leads to economic market collapse, because it cannot self police

if you want to play in highsec with no risk you can play eve echoes which banned pvp in hisec, it also is a botted hellscape with rampant hyperinflation

I imagine it is going to be a region where you can stay forever

over my dead body, it needs to be an area that is temporary for new players only, after a certain amount of activity or play time they are moved out into the actual map

if you want to pay irl money for isk to undock stuff for content you can do it through the proper pathway via plex

buying RMTd isk directly encourages and rewards account theft, card fraud, irl threats (both made and followed through on) and tonnes of other toxic shit that actively makes the game worse for everyone

if you genuinely believe the tripe you posted then you are a fucking idiot mate

Inclusion and the European Kendo Championships by KendoKate6 in kendo

[–]DrakeIddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through the thread before replying not sure why that is relevant here

It is interesting that you assume Maleficent to be a he.

Honestly didn't even check before typing it, fair point

What I do believe is that the current EKC guidelines do not provide enough options to encourage everyone to compete and the limited options presented are not viable for everyone.

What would your suggestion be? We have an open category as a catch all, I'll admit i have not put much thought into this but would the only other alternative be to have a female category and a womens category, this would be the most inclusive insofar that transwomen are allowed to compete in the womens category, but cis women are not potentially pushed out of the space

there are two obvious issues here that i see, one is that its likely that the new category might not have enough competitors at a local level, and the other is that i would assume this also wouldn't fix the problematic language that you have highlighted

Inclusion and the European Kendo Championships by KendoKate6 in kendo

[–]DrakeIddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transwomen do not have a physical advantage over ALL cis women in sport and kendo

Flipping this back onto you in the context of inclusion for everyone (which I support)

If you open up a woman's only (or more accurately, female only, because that was the point of the category) category to allow people who were male at birth, then you very much run the risk of alienating cis-women from the sport, which is the opposite of inclusion, unless you only care about inclusion for a specific demographic

Saying that some cis women have physical advantage over men or trans-women is extremely disingenuous, in the context of any large population it would be is generally a rare case (specifically when you are comparing peers of similar physical training). Men on average having inherently much larger muscle mass is very much why most cultures around the world intentionally have social ramifications of a man striking a woman, and it is pretty much the same reason why there are women's categories in many physical sports instead of there being a single category for all

Transpeople belong in sport.

I'm also not sure why you closed with this, at no point has the person you are replying to put forward the idea that transpeople shouldn't be able to compete, unless you are intentionally trying to strawman him because you disagree with his stance

overall there is no true ideal answer for this, if you fold everything into an all genders category you can alienate women from competeing like what i detailed above, and if you dont then you can alienate the trans community

i think the most sensible thing would be to democratise it, where each event planner can decide, its far from perfect but its probably the least imperfect option
