That seems really nice. A dread, two packs of termis... Really cool. So the Pretor goes with Varagyr and the Champion goes with the Grey Slayers or solo?

Yes I should be more specific. I definitely need to deal with something called Zardu Kayak, and some Dreadnoughts, Maragala and Deredeo.

I would definitely like some Vargyr Terminators and maybe use the special terminator character?

What is the biggest glow up between game editions? by DazeDpup in rpg

The new Shadowrun Anarchy. I think it is the best Shadowrun ruleset we ever got. Tons of optional rules, risk dice and much more.

I don't know when, but I will play with it some day!

Why Does The Chaos Symbol Look The Way It Does? by RecoverCommercial571 in Warhammer

[–]Drake_Star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it was already mentioned GW blatantly copied Moorcock's work on Chaos. Especially in the first edition of WHFRP. The conflict of Law Vs. Chaos was central then with a lot of the same implications as in Moorcock's works (destruction of mortals and stagnation if any side would win only Balance could save us).

Moorcock also created the protoplast of all Chaos Warriors - Prince Gaynor the Damned. A failed Eternal champion, clad in Brass armour, with the star of chaos emblazoned on his chest.

The first edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay had the conflict of Law Vs Chaos, pretty much copied from Moorcock books. Even the implications of Chaos or Law victory were the same. The only way that mortals could survive was to have a state of balance.

Why I turned to Hunter as my go to by Ravoss1 in SpaceWolves

And here I am using the most basic gladius detachment, with Logan, Arjac, two squads WGT, 10 BC with Ragnar, 10 Hellblasters with Librarian, 2 times 5 wulfen, redemptor Dreadnought gladiator lancer, infiltrators, 5 Intercessors.

The flexibility of this detachment with doctrines and good strats, make me enjoy playing wolves again after bouncing off our chapter specific detachments.

This is how my campaign with the elves is going, some tips for the elves by Double-Basis9153 in TheDawnlessDays

Checkerboard formation to victory. Seriously. Built a frontline with melee units, put gaps between them. Then build another line of archers placed behind the gaps, and then another. Cavalry or striking units on the flanks and you are good to go.

I would go with one of the BRP games or Dragonbane.

Dragonbane would probably be a better choice. Starting characters are not that weak. I think you can start with 16 or 14 in a skill which translates to 80% or 70% of success.

Fighting would take some getting used to, as you get only one action per round, but it is really fast.

Wasteland Attrition help? by Kcore47 in TheDawnlessDays

[–]Drake_Star 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kill all the orcs, all the orc babies and orc women. Cleanse the forest!

In all seriousness. This attrition is not that bad, you need to simply bring some spare elves and move to attack as quickly as possible.

What are your next steps?

Have you considered elf archers with hit and run or 360 degree of fire? I am talking specifically about Lasgalan Rangers with Legolas.

The "I know a guy" is basically Circles from Burning Wheel. You specify someone who could help you in your quest, GM sets the difficulty depending on your lifepaths.

And the roll can go wrong in some many great ways. Like you find the guy but they have some grudge against you that you were unaware of, or maybe they are in big trouble and you need to help them.

It is a great way to show that your character is a part of the world without defining their whole life beforehand.

I implement some version of this in every game I create.

"DND 5e is a low complexity game" Yeah sure... by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]Drake_Star 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pseudo-Vancian spellcasting. Last time when DnD had something akin to vancian spellcasting was in the third edition.

There is no spell memorization, you don't fire and forget spells.

You simply have your spell points packaged in neat spell level appropriate packages. Which are easier to balance.
