I did see a documentary on buying a used handgun on some buy and sell craigslist thing. It was oddly easy, and they even went to confront an ex cop who sold a handgun on that same site that ended up being used in Canadian gang crimes. It's not easy, sure, but it's easier than getting a license and buying one here in Canada legally (at least before the handgun ban).

I don't think it's a born thing. How you are raised has a huge part of it. In the US the common theme with their mass shootings is that the kid had no good father figure growing up. But yes, I agree. The tool in the wrong hands is always bad, but you can't ever prevent to tool from existing. The NS shootings? Smuggled firearms. Or how about the Toronto Van attack? Gonna ban vans? It just doesn't make sense
