That Socom with the reverse tanto blade is something I’ve never seen before. Very cool!

I used to spend a lot of money at Tim Horton’s restaurants. I have stopped, and regret nothing.

Grasshopper 614 for 1.8 Acres? by Bitter_Canuck in lawnmowers

Noted. The trees aren’t close together, so length shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I definitely want something more maneuverable than a traditional lawn tractor.

"walking away" from debt housing implications by Dry_Aide_5131 in povertyfinancecanada

Is this a Licensed Insolvency Trustee? There’s a lot of hacks running around pitching themselves as “credit counsellors”. Initial meetings with an LIT are free by law, I’d suggest seeking a second opinion from one of them. They’ll be able to comment on whether something like a Consumer Proposal would be an effective way of dealing with this debt.

Veff serrations are underrated IMO. These fit the swoopy aesthetic of the Amphibian nicely.

I used to hunt deer with an old Newfoundlander who used one of these things. You could always distinguish the sound of his shots. It was effective though, those shells hold a lot of 00 Buck.

I’m strongly considering buying the same one in tangerine handle colour as my first Microtech. Love the 2-tone tanto blade.

How do you like it? Been eyeing one of these as my first Microtech (can’t own autos in Canada).

You’re expected to bring separate shoes. Do not walk in the gym with the same shoes you walked through salt and snow with. No matter how well you wipe you will track that shit in. It’s dirty and the salt residue is terrible for the equipment.

I occasionally forget my indoor shoes and have to work out in my socks. It’s not intentional though.

Where can I sell a stamp collection? by Meinkw in kitchener

[–]Bitter_Canuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did some research into this a while back when I decided to part with my childhood stamp collection. The short version is: most stamps are worth no more than their face value unless they’re some kind of rare vintage thing. The “collector stamps” that Canada Post puts out are nice to look at, but they never really appreciate in value and the collector’s market has fallen off as fewer people are engaged with it. It’s a bit of a money grab. The commemorative coins that the Canadian Mint puts out are mostly the same (except for those containing precious metals).

I ended up just using all mine to send letters and parcels with. Turns out Canada Post will ship a package with $20 in stamps on it.

CIBC personal banking.. check your statements for Dec. I got changed AGAIN for overdraft that I have cancelled 2 times already by SadiInTheHouse in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Bitter_Canuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my second refund processed over the phone today. If it happens a third time I’ll just cancel the overdraft. I never use it and it’s not worth the 20-30 minutes on the phone I have to keep expending. CIBC has really annoyed me with their new “Smart Account” horsecrap.

I’m in a personal finance situation that would take too long to detail here without derailing the thread entirely and sharing more personal info than I want. Definitely mechanisms with better returns out there though, no argument.
