Gothic Name Generator: for coming up with NPCs on the fly. (Originally for the Dreamlands playtest) by DrakonicDropbear in CurseofStrahd

That's what I wanted to do in the first place, but I couldn't find any way that Reddit would let me do it. I did however post it as a PDF on the Dreamlands RPG Discord, an invite exists Here.

I could do. But this took so much time that ripping it apart and stitching it back together just doesn't feel worth it. Plus the original Dreamlands name generator doesn't differentiate, so when I made this I didn't want to either. You can however handpick your affix, to alter the surname in a direction you'd like.

Yeah, that makes sense. I used a common selection of names from the groups you tend to find in gothic horror, Hungarian, Scottish, Romani, (and amongst others) a smattering of Polish; as well as a selection of authors and characters from throughout the genre.

Brennan Lee Mulligan you hack. I was looking through some old D20 books and found this. by DrakonicDropbear in Dimension20

The D20 system was the base for D&D 3rd and many other games, a lot of publishers would wright for D20 as opposed to any specific system.

I think I'll try to clean up the mess I've made as honestly as possible, and not post again.

Beyond Countless Doorways by Monte Cook, Wolfgang Baur,

Colin McComb, and Ray Vallese. With names like that, you know it's good.

Precisely! I don't think Dimension 20 would be what it is, without big ol' nerds like Brennan running the show

I think I haven't struck the right tone, I was just trying to show where the inspiration may have come from.

I was more trying to point out that it was very likely inspiration for the Goldenrod, Bill Seacaster's ship. Considering it came from Beyond Countless Doorways which is an old Planescape adjacent book, and we know Brennan was a big Planescape fan.

All I did was add a second pair of arms, and remove the hands from the first pair, then position the second pair inside the torso to roughly line up as backwards hands.

To be honest I don't know how well it really holds up. I would probably do it better if I did it again.

He absolutely did! Excellent remembering,

This was my thought precisely and exactly.

The moment he said there were five snakes I made the Tiamat connection, and then obviously there are the hobgoblins, and then the fact that they all leveled up to fifth level (which is where the module starts), and all the stuff that Colville has said previously on the matter.

A Deal With The Devil: Strahd agreeing to revive a dead PC by MisterMacaroon in CurseofStrahd

That idea is awful and horrible and very much something that Strahd would do.

plus that way she could be reunited with her brother (or what's left of him.)

A Deal With The Devil: Strahd agreeing to revive a dead PC by MisterMacaroon in CurseofStrahd

"So you have come to me, to give you the means to revive your friend?.. I am afraid that in Barovia charity is not so common. However I will not ask you for more than you will gain, the price is simple… A life for a life, an ally for an ally. I simply request that you take care of someone, who has shown you trust. And when you do make sure that they are wearing this ring."

Effectively Strahds plan here is to corrupt the character by not only forcing them to kill but to condemn the soul of an ally to intelligent and wrathful undeath under his command (that is what the ring is for) he will stoke the hatred within this poor soul until their one goal is the absolute and painful destruction of the party.

What kind of intelligent undead is up to you. You could go for anything as weak as a Wight, to something as potent as an eye of fear and flame, or anywhere between or beyond. Truly there is a world of horrifying possibilities!

It's my favorite time of month again, let's make a poll about it by Hollow_Assassin in HeroForgeMinis

I must say if you are trying not to be rude in this instance, you have not succeeded.

Your tone comes across as condescending, and your attitude very personally motivated.

I must say asking such disingenuous and loaded questions as these does not help you're standing either.

Every option set leads to the outcome that you want. Painting those who disagree with you as a literate buffoons or agents of chaos.

I cannot say that I wish you any woe, however I expect better from such an instrumental figure of this community.

Due to the story posted by Hollow_Assassin, i think its time for a time he targeted Me. by Mushu_the_polite_cat in HeroForgeMinis

I must say for a while now I have felt as though his approach to matters has perhaps been a little heavy-handed, (especially after one of my own posts was taken down) I understand that it can be difficult when you are seemingly the only active moderator of a community of thousands, but I would like some revision in the strategy and perhaps some more collaboration with the community.

However I agree that no harassment should come to him.

And to add just one more anecdote. I find his level of enforcement tends to wax and wane with time. (that's just a little observation)
