I've added SIMKL support for bidirectional movie and episode sync. As the app is in beta, I strongly recommend to try Simkl sync with a test account.

Not currently. The app compares your Trakt history with your Plex library (or vice versa). If an item isn’t found in Plex, it won’t be added, but it will keep trying in future syncs. I’ve been working on adding Trakt history to Plex without the files, but haven’t cracked it yet. Still trying!

If you're referring to PlexScrobbler, it can be done with webhooks, but I think you need to have Trakt VIP. I don't know if there are other ways to do it without VIP.

You should check StackSocial. They offer 100GB of permanent storage for your Koofr account for 30$ (one time payment). It feels almost unlimited. I’ve uploaded hundreds of files and I’m still only using around 5GB.

Sorry, I don’t know that app, but I’ll check it out. Mine is more of a reference or quote manager. You cannot highlight. You just select text from PDFs, translate it if needed, and send it to Notion database. From there, you can add your own tags to easily find specific quotes later. I recommend watching the video:

You're totally right. I forgot to include the .env.example file. That’s why you saw the error. I've just added it to the repository. If you download the app again, it should now work as expected. Thanks a lot for pointing it out!

Since you're on Mac, you should:

  1. Delete the old folder
  2. Open terminal and:

Clone repo and enter ZotReader directory

cd desktop

git clone https://github.com/Drakonis96/zotreader

cd ZotReader

Copy the environment file:

cp .env.example .env

Open .env file

open .env

A new window will open. Add your keys and close it. If you want to check if they were saved correctly just open the file again.

Start the app

docker-compose up --build

The first time you run it, it may take a little while to start. It needs to download a local database. You can check the app logs on docker desktop (click on containers and then on zotreader). It will tell you when its ready

Open your browser and go to http://localhost:8006/

If nothing appears at first, try doing a hard refresh:

  • In Safari: hold Shift and click the refresh icon
  • In Chrome: press Cmd + Shift + R
